Lately most of it has been counterfactual.
Find a country or a people that isn't in some sense "invented." Look at a map of Britain or France or Germany or Italy or Spain a thousand years ago. Those countries were all formed over a long process and at the beginning it would have seemed ridiculous to believe that Burgundians and Gascons and Alsatians and Bretons would all come to be considered Frenchmen. Or consider Africa. Where did all those countries come from if not through some process that combined accident, will, and invention?
The problem is not reviewing history. The problem is the Muslims rewriting history to deny Israel has ever been a Jewish state, Jerusalem ever being its capital, Jordan not being the Arab state created out of the Palestinian Mandate, which promised it all to the Jews for a homeland, and inventing a new nationality called Palestinians.
They conveniently want the world to forget they have tried four times to destroy the Jews and drive the Jews into the sea (1948, 1956, 1967, and 1973). They want the world to forget the Muslims were attacking Jews long before Israel became a nation.;
They want the world to forget that between 1948 and 1967, they held Jordanian citizenship, and that there was no Palestinian state created by the Arab states in the land they occupied as a result of the armistice.;
They want you to forget that the Palestinians in Jordan tried to overthrow the Jordanian king (Saudi Transplant)and establish a country names Palestine, but had their heads handed to them by the Jordanians.;
They would like all to forget that the people conquered in the past by Muslim armies had to die, convert, or submit (the meaning of Islam).;
They also want the world to forget that over 600 thousand Jews were expelled from the Arab Middle Eastern countries following the establishment of Israel in 1948, and that these Jews rather than being house in neighboring states in refugees camps, and used by the West as a political club against Arab states, resettled in Israel and elsewhere.;
They would also like to destroy the knowledge that the Arabs who left Israel in 1948 were not fleeing Israeli guns, but getting out of the way so their Arab armies could destroy the Jews, and then they could move back in and take Jewish property.;
Also, Iran would like to forget that they once had a Jewish Queen, and a religion other than Islam.That Persia was also conquered and subjected to forced conversion for all Persians who were not "People of the Book" (everyone but Christians and Jews).;
There are about a billion Muslims and approximately 12 million Jews in the world. Who is the Goliath, and who is the group trying to destroy and occupy? Not the Jews!
