Some children didn't write to Santa with their most heartfelt wish this holiday season. Instead, more than 5,000 sent letters to the nation's political leaders, asking them to stop a wave of deportations that is tearing immigrant families apart.
On Thursday, dozens of children brought the letters to President Barack Obama and Congress as part of the "A Wish for the Holidays" campaign, organized by the coalition We Belong Together

who wants to split up families? I want the illegals and their entire family deported !

The kids can go with them.
Why are these kids insisting on staying here, tearing their families apart?

who wants to split up families? I want the illegals and their entire family deported ! Same here. Keep the families together, and end the anchor baby program. The law was never meant to be interpreted that way.

The kids are writing to the wrong people. They should be writing to their parents, asking them why they broke the law and came here illegally, thus imposing the risk of deportation on the family and the chance it would be split up? Many, many years ago when my parents were raising me, they taught me two things: first, parents are responsible for their children, when they are children. Second, when the children are grown, they are responsible for themselves. Yet another lesson lost in the swamp of the nanny state.

I know tell me about it. Who is asking them to stay? Who asked them to commit a crime in the first place? If I commit a crime I don’t want the judge to send me to jail because it would split my family. Chaaa right.

Who cares. Until the border is shut down they will be back in a couple of months. This is the point Perry has been trying to make. Shut down the border, then when you deport they will stay deported. I know a guy who was deported and was back in a couple weeks. I thought WTF?

Or you could brand them on the cheek and make it legal to shoot anyone with a branded cheek.

Why can’t the kids go with the parents? I can’t imagine that my folks would have allowed our family to seperated in a similar circumstance.

The “split” families canard is pure nonsense. Mexico and the Central American countries, like the USA, consider children of their nationals to be citizens of their country. So such children CAN accompany their parents when they relocate to their parents’ countries of origin. Every year, thousands of people do this voluntarily. If families are split, it is by the choice of the family members. A difficult choice , in some cases. But the root source of this difficulty is the illegal resident's original decision to sneer at our laws and violate our borders.

Why is it bad to split families to deport them, but it was just fine when they split up their family VOLUNTARILY when they left their home country to come here?
