Lady Thatcher is in my top 5 Conservative champions of all time, and this recognition by her lucid countrymen of her vindicated wisdom, especially in these times, is inspiring. The tide of wisdom may be sweeping away shallow suicidal waters of socialism and winning the day through buoyant Conservative seas, for which she nearly alone showed how to plot her nation's course.
Bravo!

Dangit. I posted my comment in the body of the NYT's article, instead of the comment section. Forgive me.
Possible to rectify this Mr./Mrs mod? Sorry for the trouble. Many thanks.

While I am a big fan of Margaret Thatcher; remember, it was she more than any other political figure who promoted the concept of man-made global warming in the very beginning. She glommed on to the concept with eagerness. She saw it as a tool to beat down the coal-mining unions.
In her zeal to take on those unions, she inadvertently gave her imprimatur to the biggest con-job in history and promoted the same with grants for research.
AGW is the one big black-eye of Thatcher's career.

God, how I miss Reagan & Thatcher. I’m starting to wonder if we’ll ever see anyone like them again.

Do you have a timeframe for her support for this position? Many were snookered into such false science, prior to modern rigorous peer review and prominent exposes debunking the “science”. Was she privy to these reports? Did she ever recant or soften her endorsement, if that was indeed her view?
Shall we ignore all her accomplishments and overwhelmingly force for good in the advance of Conservatism and reason based on a single mistake for this dubious initial policy stance?
I hold no person or politician to a standard of ideological purity; not even our most esteemed Conservative standard bearers. These notions are fantasies. Some prominent phony leaders are deeply flawed, and I’m in favor of highlighting their hypocrisy wherever it’s uncovered. I’m certain we can exclude Lady Thatcher from these usual suspects.

As I said, she wasn't snookered, she was instrumental in its promulgation. She heard about the theory well before even the MSM began talking about it and made a conscious decision to adopt the philosophy as a weapon against the coal miners. Maybe you don't recall, but during her first term there was a near revolution and a nightmarish strike that was crippling the British economy.
Maggie broke the back of the strike and she used AGW as part of her argument.
I have in no way "ignored all her accomplishments," I am merely pointing out her biggest sin against conservatism and the world.>Br />
Counter question, are we to ignore the errors and flaws of our greatest leaders? The fact that she was one of the best and brightest leaders in history and with Reagan, Lec Walensa, and Pope John Paul II, was responsible for the demise of the Soviet Union, must not protect her from honest objective scrutiny.
