"Some of these fungi (primarily Aspergillus flavus) produce the very lethal mycotoxins called aflatoxins. Aflatoxins are remarkably potent, often causing disease even when ingested in minute amounts. Aflatoxins can cause disease throughout the body, but are most commonly known for causing acute or chronic liver disease and liver cancer" per www.wellvet.com

My little guy got two raw chicken drummettes, and some dried lamb liver squares.
Never feed my guys anything but the best raw meaty diet I can afford.
Google “Raw Meaty Bones”, website of Tom Lonsdale, and aussie vet. He explains the whys and hows.

We've been feeding our girls (a Rott / GSD mix, and a Lab / Blue Tick mix) the "raw meaty bones" diet for a couple of years, ever since the Chinese melamine wheat gluten "contamination" back a few years ago. The diet agrees with them, and I like knowing what they are eating. The benefits of this diet are many.
Our vet was skeptical, yet every time I take the girls in he remarks on how great they look.

We feed “Taste of the Wild”. It’s made in America, but from what sources? I don’t know. We’re going to call our breeder tomorrow.

I hear you. If our brand is affected, I don’t think I’ll be feeding manufactured food again either.
