Nearly twelve years have passed since he was pulled from a closet by a masked machine gun wielding US agent. Now Elian Gonzalez, the Cuban boy who survived a perilous raft journey that killed his mother and became a symbol of troubled relations between the United States and Cuba, is an adult. Gonzalez currently studies at a military academy on the island and took part in an 18th birthday celebration Tuesday in his native city of Cardenas alongside his father, according to images broadcast on the nightly news.

So, how are things going?
barf alert
Yeah, how is he doing? I don’t even know, and I can guarantee that this young man is uneducated, unemployed and probably no better off than his father...

His mother died trying to save him from living under a Communist dictator. The USG failed him.
Elian today
Pity: He’s probably a thoroughly brainwashed little Young Pioneer by now. Who knows?

Communism = slavery.
Slave master = Castro.
Elian is a good slave to Castro and his Cuban plantation.
Special place in HELL for Janet Reno and the rest of the goons that worked tirelessly on that creep Castro’s behalf.
He is a kid who could have had anything, and now he has to settle for being in Castro’s military, and that’s the best he can hope for.
I have to agree.
If the case has wound it’s way through the due process of the courts, and it was deemed Elian should go back, and the family resisted, at some point you do have to take action.
That wasn’t the case. The family acted in Elian’s best interest, and wasn’t breaking any laws. Court cases were still pending.
Reno and her storm-troopers, violated everyone’s rights, including Elian’s.
Ultimately a judge may have found that Elian’s dad was not the caretaker parent, or that he had been abusive to Elian or some such.
No need to check into it folks. The Clinton’s and their henchmen never had to abide by the law. Why would they here?
Sooner or later, he might escape Castro's Cuba!
Who knows? :-\
Full title: One of Castro’s slaves, who was stolen from relatives in the US, turned 18,yet he is still a slave.
His father had a claim that couldn’t be disputed; if he died on the way over people would be furious at the mother.
