Reality is there might not be ANY help these days.
Radio, like many other industries is going automated. Bean counters figure why pay salaries and benefits when you can get machines to do it without complaining.
I was once told where I live there are few if any physical human beings after the morning drive program at the Clear Channel station where Savage is broadcast from (KSTE 650.) They called it the Ethan Drive ghost town, since that's the street they're located. I've driven by there after 10AM, and by 3PM when Savage starts, the parking lot is definitely more empty.
A lot is preprogrammed, the announcer saying the time sounds live, yet it's all triggered by computer. You definitely hear the flubs at times, especially when a local ad steps on top of a national ad and nobody's there to turn down the pot.
KSTE is the worst radio station technically that I have had the misfortune to encounter since I started listening to radio in the early 1940s.
Yes, it is mostly automation for sure but it's been going on for years and years 24/7. No one who works there listens to the station I guess. This week at the start of the Imus show ads ran for five or six minutes over the audio of the show everyday except this morning. Finally someone who works there was up at 3AM to hear it. I guess.
They've even started the wrong show! One that's not even on their schedule and it ran for 20 minutes before someone noticed and switched to the correct show.
