Obama threatens veto if pipeline decision is added to payroll tax cut (Do it!)

President Obama has warned Republicans he'll veto an extension of the payroll tax if it includes a measure forcing quick approval of the Keystone oil sands pipeline.

“Any effort to try to tie Keystone to the payroll tax cut I will reject,” Obama told reporters Wednesday after meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper at the White House.

Obama said he would not accept a payroll tax holiday bill if Republicans add “extraneous” provisions, including a measure that would force quick approval of the controversial Keystone pipeline that would run from Canada to the southern U.S.

House Republicans pushing for approval of the pipeline to bring crude from Alberta’s oil sands projects to Gulf Coast refineries have discussed linking it to extension of the tax holiday. The payroll tax cut extension is a Democratic and White House priority

This alone is grounds for impeachment he is going against making the economy better beyond the partisan hack he is.

Ok repubs.

This is the chance to see if that cojone-graft that the Tea Party has been trying to give you actually will work.

Call the t*rd’s bluff.

Make our day.

Dare him to veto it. But then explain it to the public don’t let him just get away with it. Oh wait a minute I’m expecting the GOP which has no balls to stick it to Barry. Sorry momentary lapse of brain matter.

They need to call the Kenyan’s bluff and add that pipeline as a condition for the payroll tax holiday extension. He won’t have the stones to veto it. His own people would eat him alive.

It’s a matter of national security. He’s pandering to his enviro-whacko base for votes instead of securing energy resources from a friendly neighbor when the Middle East oil supply could be cut off at any minute.

” - - - “If President Obama threatens to veto it over a provision that creates American jobs, that’s a fight we’re ready to have,” he said.”

Let’s see if Boehner has the backbone to actually do what he says. Ping me if he actually gets it done.

(It would help Obama say something positive about creating jobs in his otherwise sorry, upcoming State of the Union Speech.)

The so called “payroll tax cut” is complete democrat bs and is not helping the economy at all.

Just serving to bankrupt social security sooner than later.

Don’t worry everybody.

Boehner will back away from the measure forcing quick approval of the Keystone oil sands pipeline saying, “It was the best deal I could get”.

Such a bill would have to pass the Senate first. Hey, here’s an idea, why not just put forward ONLY the payroll tax issue with no amendments, etc. The pubs have to get in front of this and not give the impression they don’t want to cut middle class taxes

Unfortunately, Boehner is a coward. He will not stand up for what is right.

The GOP needs to start playing hardball with this marxist punk. Put the pipeline in the bill and start talking about all the jobs it will create for UNION construction workers.

Dare Urkel to veto it.

The GOP is in the process of selling us down the river. This POS in the WH has such low approval ratings he’d have to scramble to get up to Carter’s popularity. If they can’t get a limited government conservative in in 2012, they never will. I get the sickening feeling they’re going to sacrifice the presidency and concentrate on winning the Senate and holding the House.
