Oh my: I’m skipping the Trump debate, says Romney

Via Mediaite. He did the right thing but, Mitt being Mitt, I can’t help wondering what the political calculus was behind it. Remember, he’s not above pandering to Trump. He met with him at his office a few months ago while taking care not to be caught on camera doing so, natch. Skipping the debate, I take it, is designed to show undecideds that he’s more presidential (and therefore electable?) than Newt and Perry, and maybe to signal that he’s more willing than people assume to take a political risk. Expect a “Sistah Souljah” reference or two in the coverage of this, needless to say. This is, however, a bona fide risk, no matter how freakish the debate might be: The Trump event is set for December 27, just a week before the caucuses, and it’ll probably do major ratings thanks to Trump’s star appeal.

As such, it’s a last chance for Newt to close the deal with Iowans or for Perry or Bachmann to gain traction and vault past Romney, which would be ruinous to his campaign heading into New Hampshire. Plus, Trump doesn’t handle snubs well, as Huntsman and Ron Paul could tell you, and will likely spend the rest of the month dumping on Romney publicly. Don’t believe me? Here’s how he reacted to Romney’s “no” this afternoon:

Trump scares the crap out of the Candidates that are NOT Conservative....simply because the questions won't be pre-written and scripted, and hardball questions will put the RINO's on the spot.

This is showing how poor the field of Candidates is, with the exception of Bachman and Santorum.

There’s no line of straight questioning Mitt won’t run from.

Trump is a liberal douchebag whose short-lived “campaign” for President was just a money-making scheme to get gullible conservatives to donate and draw more viewers to The Apprentice (and it worked beautifully... if there's one thing Donald Trump knows how to do, it's con people out of their money). There's a good chance this fraud is looking for more political airtime to embark on another phony “third party bid” like his laughable “Reform Party” primary against Pat Buchanan in 2000. The conservative candidates should also skip the debate and not give Trump the time of day. I'm tired of the GOP presidential candidates “meeting with” Trump and groveling before him to stroke his ego. Since when did some real estate tycoon become a political guru? Shades of Arnold taking political advice from Warren Buffet.

Frankly, every candidate should avoid this sideshow, if only because it’s being produced by Eason Jordan, a left winger so unhinged he couldn’t even keep a job at CNN, where he accused US troops in Iraq of torturing and murdering “at least 10” journalists. He also admitted to disseminating Baath Party propaganda on CNN in order to curry favor with Sadaam. If that’s the kind of character Trump wants to associate with, we should be shunning him.

Romney is skipping the debate because Trump would destroy the so called “business expertize” persona of Romney.

Trump to Romney: “You’re fired!”

Romney is only doing what Tokyo Rove instructs him to do.

And we all know how yesterday Trump b#tchslapped Tokyo Rove into next week.

Why not attend a Trump sponsored debate? Going through one of the alphabet networks debate is convoluted. Maybe Ru Paul would get a whole lot more time too. As for Mittens he was AWOL also when the Tea Party events were hot back in 09-10. Not impressed with fence riders like the Myth.

Trump is paying homage to the establishment RINO’s who abhor any debate venue where conservative candidates are not properly savaged. They prefer the liberal venues that leave us backed in a corner and make it easy on Romney to be the last man standing. Bachman remains on stage to serve her purpose as Romney’s only fighting force against the conservatives while lecturing us on conservatism. She simply has to be earning a place with Romney. There is just no other explanation.

I feel that this is a move to punish Trump for not playing the game— We do not even know what the format will be. Look to see Mittens change his mind as the date gets closer. Still, the Fix might be in—Romney need not debate as he is selected to win. Newt will be trashed by the GOP and the MSm—Its Sarah Palin Time.

Romney for Obama in 2011

“White House Quotes Romney in Defense of Health Care”

Mitt Romney Sends Leftover Pizza to Obama Chicago HQ
After spending the day in Chicago fundraising, Mitt Romney
sat down with small business owners at Gino's East,
a pizza joint famous for their deep-dish pizza.
In fact, Romney himself tweeted a photo of a
delivery boy heading out with the loot, writing,
"Great deep dish at @ginoseast.
Sending the extra slices to @barackobama and his Chicago HQ team."

Chihuahua Romney - the One and the Only "Magic RINO(TM)":

ROMNEY: "Obama was born in the United States"

ROMNEY: "Obama Doesn’t Need a Birth Certificate"

ROMNEY: "The citizenship test has been passed"

Trump scares the crap out of the Candidates that are NOT Conservative....

Why? He is NOT a conservative in any way. He is just playing one on TV. Let the scumbag run 3rd party. I can tell you from my NJ Atty Gen. contacts, he has more dirt on him than you can possibly imagine. Has run over little people like a steamroller and left a ton of collateral damage. That eminent domain suit vs. the little old lady to build his VIP parking lot was nada compared to what is out there on this phony creep.

Mitt Romney is worth twice as much as Trump in CASH VALUE. Amazing how people are taken in by this shyster's lies.

Good! I don’t particularly like Trump he’s in it for numero uno all the time, but he will be the first of the debate moderators to actually be a Republican. (I know, he’s recent, but it might actually be move in the right direction for the debates we will have to see.)

So that leaves us Newt, Perry, Santorum and Bachmann. Excellent. More air time for people we need to hear from. One of these is likely to be it and anything that lets those who are more conservative and trustworthy than Romney talk more to the American people is a good thing.

So let’s see what comes of it.

Good. Huntsman, Paul and Romney are right. I generally dislike all of them, but on this one they are correct. Trump is a clown. Turning a GOP debate into something akin to his dopey realityTV show where he picks a winner (endorses) afterward is nothing but a publicity stunt on his part designed to improve his brand. Why one earth would Republicans allow Trump, a guy who is still sending out solicitations to people preparing them for the possible Trump 3rd party run, to moderate one of their debates. It’s a circus and Republicans should avoid it at all costs.
