I’m considering the 2012 Beetle.
Sue me. I like retro styling.

I can definitely see the resemblance ;>)

The slant six, along with the 318, were some of the best engines Detroit ever produced as far as reliability goes IMHO. (old mopar owner/lover)

My Brother bought a 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger in his senior year of HS. 340 ‘6 pack’ ( 340 ci engine, 4 speed, dual exhaust), traction bars, the works.
It would press you back in the seat so hard you couldn't lean forward if you tried when you ‘got on it’.
145 MPH with no problem.

Rules!
When it goes on sale in the spring of 2010, the Giulietta will be offered with a choice of two gas burning engines. The first is the 1.4TB making 120 HP and the 1.4TB MultiAir that cranks out a total of 170 HP. There will also be two alternatively fueled diesel engines, the 1.6 JTDM pumping out 105 HP and the 2.0 JTDM that makes 170 HP, both belonging to FIATs second generation JTDM, turbo diesel engines. The top of the line Giulietta will be the 1750 TBi that develops a maximum output of 235 HP and will come with Alfas racy Quadrifoglio Verde trim package.
They should call the 235 hp version the "Tough Dart"

I had a `72 Dodge truck with a 318 and a 4 speed stick with granny gear. I pulled shrubs and small trees out of the ground with it and a chain. Re-built the carb, no extra pieces left over on the kitchen table, wife didn’t leave me. Worked out great!

My first car was a ‘74 Dart with a 318, 4 speed and dual exhaust. Wish I still had that car.

4 speed, completely stock motor. The car was red, with a white leather interior. Its instrument panel had a beautiful, greenish luminescent glow.
I loved that car!!

Growing up I had a ‘67 Coronet 318 2 door, then a ‘68 Coronet 4 door (mint shape, man I miss that car), then a ‘76 Plymouth Gran Fury 4 door with the 318, but it had a 3 on the tree also. First gear would blow the motor at about 30, but the thing would put down a strip of rubber just as long as you wanted to step on the gas.

That old slant 6 just may have been the best engine Chrysler ever developed and built. It replaced a side valve 6 that was a mainstay of Plymouth and Dodge for 25-30 years.
Slant 6 was damn near indestructible

I've got a 2005. Love it, and lotsa fun. I'm a GM guy from way back, but bought it used when the "G" in General motors was changed to "government".
