After MSNBC's Chris Matthews bashed Barack Obama a few weeks ago for having "the worst kind of a notion of the presidency," people were wondering if the Hardball host no longer got a thrill up his leg for the Commander-in-Chief.

It's not easy. If the master race-baiter withstands Newt and doesn't make a complete fool of himself too obviously, it will be reported in glowing terms. If Newt crushes the drug-addled moron, it will be reported as nasty and mean-spirited. We are facing a propaganda machine that has no morals and no integrity at all. Newt will have to be very careful, and even then he will only win with those who watch.
