From An Open Letter to the People of California:
I am filing today an initiative with the Attorney Generals office that would generate nearly $7 billion in dedicated funding to protect education and public safety.
I am going directly to the voters because I dont want to get bogged down in partisan gridlock as happened this year. The stakes are too high.

2% and a 1/2 penny increase in the sales tax?
That’s a lot of money coming out of wallet.

The California Legislature does not represent the voters? Or does not want to go on record as representing the voters?

Finally, a tax I could live with, but bump it to 50% and apply it to all those that receive income from the entertainment industry.
Its too late, they are broke Jim...only appearances now...
Must take down the Spielburgs, Hanks, Lenos and Sorkins!
Occupy Malibu
Occupy Beverly Hills
Occupy Oprah

What the hell is this this “Republic” thingy about anyway????????
I suppose this means he will have a staged setting of paid yahoos roboting right along with him.

The way to tell when they are ‘REALLY’ serious is when they start taxing wealth not just income. Because when that happens the bottom of the barrel has been reached.
“Maryland lost 1/3 of their millionaires after a similar tax. The left promised $100 million windfall from the rich but the state actually lost $100 million because so many rich moved out”
Exact same thing happened in Oregon - Voted it in - revenue down by 30%
Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. John Adams: letter to John Taylor, April 15, 1814
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.:Thomas Jefferson
The California Legislature does not represent the voters? Or does not want to go on record as representing the voters?Yeah, sorta.
It would take a 2/3 majority for the legislature to raise taxes, or put a tax increase before the voters. The Democrats were two votes shy of that 2/3 majority in each house, and no Republicans would vote for more taxes. Some Democrats claimed they could put a tax increase on the ballot with just a simple majority, but the Governor and Most Democrats were unwilling to do that without a bipartisan endorsement.
Moonbeam has now decided that bipartisanship-be-damned, he wants more taxes. So here we go.
I say let them do it. Until the “people” face the hard cold world of socialism where there is no money, no jobs, no food on the shelves, and no hope, they will not understand how the world works. They need to feel the pain.
Exactly right! What a moron to include the sales tax in the proposition. I too am a Californian who will vote no regardless and agree, absent the sales tax inclusion, this thing would pass way too easy. How is there equal protection under the law when one economic class of citizens can vote to impose a tax on another? This kind of crap blows and needs to stop on 11/12.
If they were home schooled instead of public schooled, they would know that for every 50K you take out of the pockets of the employer, one employee loses his or her job.
Those who vote democrat or rino get what they deserve.
I’m in favor of it. Of course, rich liberals will pack their bags and move to a low-tax jurisdiction. Texas and Florida will welcome a lot more high income ex-Californians, thanks to the absence of a state income tax. I hope Jerry Brown sends other states his cream of the crop. It can’t happen soon enough!
It will pass. Tax millionaires “all for the children.” The slackers and morons in California like that sort of thing. It goes with the water there.
