BOSTON (AP) A brother-in-law of Massachusetts U.S. Rep. John Tierney has been found guilty of racketeering in a federal court trial.
Daniel Eremian was accused of helping operate an illegal offshore gambling operation. The jury that convicted him and a co-defendant of racketeering Monday acquitted them of some related charges they faced.
Patrice Tierney, the congressmans wife, testified during the trial that she and her husband didnt know that another brother, Robert Eremian, allegedly was running the illegal online gambling operation in Antigua. She said she believed he was a software consultant.
She pleaded guilty last year to aiding and abetting the filing of false tax returns for Robert Eremian, who remains a fugitive. She said she was managing a bank account to help Robert care for his children.

Daniel Eremian, the brother-in-law of U.S. Rep. John F. Tierney, was found guilty today of racketeering and illegal gambling, but was cleared by a jury of a money laundering charge. Eremian will be sentenced March 8, but a detention hearing is set for Thursday on if his bail will be revoked. Two other defendants in the case are fugitives in Antigua, including his brother Robert Eremian.
Prosecutors likened Eremian, 61, to a kind of gambling hustler, who rose up from North Shore barkeep to ingratiate himself with the deep-pocketed beautiful people of Boca Ratons exclusive country club set via Sports Off Shore betting.
He lived a lifestyle like these millionaires and billionaires because of how important he was to SOS, said federal prosecutor Robert Fisher. He had a motive to hang out in these clubs.
Sports Off Shore, which was twice visited by Congressman Tierney according to the testimony of his wife Patrice, is alleged to have been owned by Eremians fugitive brother Robert, 59, though evidence presented at trial suggested the companys bright blue helicopter was registered to Daniel.
(Johnny and wife visited Sports Off Shore, but they saw NOTHING! NOTHING!-rr)

What did she think her brother was doing for work when he was convicted of drug dealing? How about when he was charged with racketeering in 2008?
