So, would you say that the IUD was a form of abortion because it prevents the implantation of the human zygote?

I would call it a contraceptive with too high a risk of being an abortifacient - or even with the intention of causing an abortion when the IUD is used as a “morning after” procedure after unprotected sex.

I don’t prescribe them and have never dispensed an IUD, but in the law in Texas, even that last wouldn’t be legally an abortion. The law is specific to “ending a pregnancy that the attending physician knows is viable!” We’ve been struggling with that wording in trying to protect those who don’t want to prescribe the morning after-type pills or the IUD. We’re working on it.

It’s nit picking, but the pro-aborts love to catch these inaccuracies.

btw, the implantation occurs when the embryo is a blastocyst. The zygote stage is only that first cell.
