The Gingrich campaign contacted me directly last night about the comments that he made to ABC News. The campaign sent me the following statement from Newt Gingrich. (Which is also on their website).
I am very glad that the Gingrich campaign was quick to respond to the fallout from the ABC News interview and that they came out with a strong pro-life statement which reaffirms the scientific fact that life begins at conception....

Newt balanced four budgets, reformed welfare, orchestrated a GOP takeover of both houses of Congress, and has a 99% pro-life voting record.
He is a scholar who understands history, details of governmental affairs, current events and global politics. They wont be able dismiss him with the standard Republicans are stupid attack.
His breadth of knowledge and brilliant analytical skills will shine during the presidential debates. He will educate the public while crushing Obama. He has the experience needed for the dismantling of the federal bureaucracy.
“The pregnancy is doomed when an ectopic pregnancy occurs.”
Not always.

Ah, another n00b, signed up a couple of months ago to tell freepers whom NOT to vote for. Agenda?
And Congresswoman Giffords didn’t die from a direct gunshot to the head.
The symptomatic ectopic pregnancy is the equivalent of a gun to the head, as the trigger is being pulled.
I’m not sure what you’ve been driving at, but this thread is about NG and a supposed clarification on when he believes human life begins. What Michelle - I assume you mean Bachmann - may or may not do in light of this is something I wouldn’t know. Even if I did I wouldn’t mention it because that information wouldn’t be relevant here.
Losing my trust in what Newt says is based on information, not an agenda.
Newt is not for legal protection from conception forward.
That point needs to be from conception forward.
Thanks for the info..
Newt back-pedaling big time.
What’s deceitful about it?
I agree this is not a simple issue. However, if he were attempting to delineate between human life and human personhood then I fail to see the distinction as it pertains to his comment RE: implantation. Is personhood established by virtue of implantation?
In broader terms, that line of thinking seems to suggest that personhood is granted by the overt act of another; the implantation of a frozen embryo into the womb. I find it disturbing that one’s view on important philosophical and ethical matters is dependent upon biology.
As for the legal argument you put forth I would submit that at this stage our nation isn’t ready to address such concerns. We as a nation can’t seem to come to agreement on the biological truth that life begins at conception.
Having said all that, I’m very glad Newt put out this statement.
Thank you for you response.

Here’s another poll on the GOP race that just got started, so the numbers are very skewed right now. Everyone can forward it around to anyone planning on voting in the Republican GOP primary or caucus, in an attempt to get a larger and more representative voting base:

Governor Sarah Palin predicts Santorum will surprise us in Iowa.
I hope she’s right.
What connection are you drawing between abortion and welfare?
If Newt or Romney is the Republican candidate I am sure we will wind up with an election result similar to what we saw when McCain ran. Too many Americans (who are naturally conservatives) are on to the RINOs and will simply not vote. The country is so far gone now - by every standard of measure - that anyone other than a hard-Right Conservative will only bring it down further. This is no time for flip-flopping wordsmiths. If America is to be of any more use in these days it requires a direct and unequivocated repentance, an absolute 180.
And may God grant it to us in His mercy, amen.
Typical. Newt says something stupid to his MSM buddies and then within 24 hours time, the Mea Culpas come. This guy is all over the place with his positions.
Unfortunately he has no intention to do so. All Newts ideas call for more gov't from global warming to ethanol subsidies.
