I guess Cain is in no position to condemn Newt over his marital mishaps.

Newt would be crazy to choose Cain a a veep.

They do not share the same philosophy and it would give double ammunition to anyone who wants to trash Newt on his wimmen problem.

I was never for Cain and I am not among those who blame everyone under the sun for his problems. he did it himself and he knows it. I am sorry for the good people he fooled and for his darling little wife, but Cain is nothing to me.

I think Newt and Herman had a gentleman’s agreement all along.

Whoever wound up being the breakaway candidate for the GOP nomination would get the endorsement or support of the other.

They are longtime Georgia friends and share a lot of the same views economically and otherwise.

For a while it looked like Cain would be the breakaway guy but the wild card of the sex accusations smear (UNPROVEN) flipped that around. I don’t believe the smear job came from Newt or even anyone on the Left. It came from (either or both) Romney and Perry. Regardless it changed the race where Cain was down and Newt was up, so Cain got out and threw his support behind Newt.

I also think part of the agreement was to be running mates. I’m not sure that will happen now unless and until there is more vindication for Herman on this smear job. Too risky for Newt to put Cain on the ticket if those allegations are gonna keep coming up, true or not. But if there is clear vindication for Herman then he would look good on the ticket.

I think you will see Cain and his attorney Wood vigorously pursue such vindication, and now can do so without the daily media glare and bombardment.

Ok, certainly don’t know why you would try to make me feel worse about Cain. I don’t bash Perry. I think he’s a good guy.

unlike Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and Franklin Rains and Jamie Goreick and Janet Reno and all the Ivy leaguers who got us into this mess.

They belong on a poster on the post office wall.

...And Ralph Nader phoned over 90,000 votes from the Democrats in Florida providing the win for George W. Bush.

That damn Ralph, I suspected he liked to talk dirty on the phone, but 90,000 damn calls!?!?!?

Lady Lucky, amazing that we all knew Cain endorsed Romney Cain did well during the first debate, very impressive.. but after that he started going downhill. After listening to each candidate and not only weighing what they would do as president but what they KNEW about our laws and constitution..Newt became my man. I am sticking with him through the mudfights, bashing and attacks. Good to see you Lady Lucky..enjoy a little sanity in the asylum and you bring that for sure. I am still laughing over Newt being called a wolf in sheeps clothing...me thinks that description fits Cain.

His answer should have been -if conservatives select me, then I’ll be the nominee.

The only reason he comes across as arrogant is because he is arrogant.

And he is going to be beat in the face with that characteristic from now until the time he is defeated.

Per Carl Cameron on Fox Cain’s camp is denying he is endorsing Newt today.

Can we amend the title please?

Racial epithets like that don’t help the site’s image either. Plays right into the libs’ hands.

I’m sorry. I should not have done that. I underestimated the lasting devotion of some to Mr. Cain.

I admire that loyalty and I am ashamed if I seemed to be, or was, gloating over his departure.

As for you, over, still attempting to blame Perry for Cain’s problems, I do not respect that at all.

Thank you, Middle Earth, for what you said about Perry, he is a good man.

Oh, please, Newters. (Is that our pet name)

Newt is not a god and he is far from perfect.

He did something great for our country and I totally admire and respect that. His good ideas and his soaring rhetoric grabbed the House in 1995. That was great.

However, he squandered that victory by his failure to be consistent, to stick to the point and to lead the majority he achieved.

Within two years, he had created vast disillusion in the House with his leadership. Several members met to try to get him out. That coup failed but Newt never regained the popularity. He eventually quit. So, he’s a quitter.

Newt likes to run and likes to talk. He does not like the day to day business of governing. That’s similar to Obama, eerily so.

That being said, I would, of course, vote for him if he wins.

But we have a better man, a better candidate and a better administrator waiting in the wings.

Me culpa. I mis-spelled “siphoned” and apparently selected an incorrect version when spell checking.
