Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said his home state could be "up for grabs" in the 2012 presidential election, due in large part to the growing numbers of Hispanic voters.
"The demographics are clear that the Hispanic vote will play a major role in national elections," he said on CNN's "State of the Union."
However, higher numbers of Hispanic voters does not guarantee Obama an edge according to McCain, who said his inability to meet some campaign promises on immigration makes that voting bloc competitive.
The most recent GOP candidate went so far as to say New Mexico, Colorado, and even Texas could become competitive battlegrounds in presidential elections. And Republican candidates will need to strike a "careful balance" on immigration when trying to court those voters.
“The Republican Party has to discuss this in as humane a way as possible," he said.
Republicans need to find a humane way to deal with illegal immigrants that have made it to American and built lives here, but at the same time secure the border and ensure any plan for existing illegal immigrants does not trigger another "wave" of people who think getting over the border will ensure their continued stay in America.
"We have to have empathy, we have to have concern and we have to have a plan," he added. “But at the same time, to say that we are going to have insecure borders…that’s not the message we want to send."

I challenge anyone to go to the electoral map at 270toWin.com, start with the results of the 2008 election, add AZ and TX to the Obama column and then find a way for the GOP to win in 2012. You get to take back a lot of states that Obama should never have won but you will need to win a lot of traditionally Dem states to pull it out. I personally don't think it can be done. Texas is just to big deal for us to lose.
We are NOT going to lose Texas in 2012. But how about 2016 or 2020 or 2024? At some point TX is going to be at risk. That will happen if the Hispanic vote continues to split between D and R like it has in the past. The GOP needs Texas as a swing state like a hole in the head. I don't think we can let that happen. But right now I'm worried about it.
Juan is using the figures from the last bogus “census”. A lot of those illegal aliens that were counted have left the state because of SB 1070.

McCain of course speaks for Americans dependent upon servile, compliant and taxpayer-subsidized cheap labor -- or at least taxpayer money to support the cheap labor families. McCain also speaks for the Hispanic civil-rights industry who are also dependent upon taxpayer-subsidized masses.

I’m assuming you mean to include those children of illegal immigrants who are aleady citizens and not just those born in the future in your disenfranchisement plan. I agree that the whole idea of “anchor babies” was a huge mistake but it is a mistake we made and, even if we correct that problem in the future, the damage is mostly done.
But I’m afraid that taking the vote away from those anchor babies is just not going to happen. And if not, the Latino voting population is going to grow faster than the general population. I still don’t see any way out of this short of convincing Latinos to vote GOP in greater percentages than they currently are.
So your solution is what? To promote Mitt, the biggest RINO of the bunch?
The plan is to hoodwink Americans into thinking some systematic sorting, welcoming and deporting process will occur, whereby the (grossly underestimated) 11 million are acceptably attenuated. It's both disingenuous and unworkable--Newt knows it and we know it, and he no doubt knows we know it.
Biggest issue and most important for the future of this country is illegal immigration. Second one is reforming entitlements, i.e medicare. In both cases, Newt is openly and fanatically on liberal side. His “radical rightwing social engineering” accusation will destroy tea party for a decade.
Under no circumstances will I vote for that amnesty friek. On these topics, Newt is clearly the most dangerous.
I understand that for some freepers, amnesty and bashing conservatives in 2011 is fine.

Entirely correct on your first point. Short of changing what’s written in the Fourteenth Amendment, this simply isn’t going to happen. Those who profess that Congressional action will suffice to alter that, are beyond dreaming — they’re delusional.
And you are also right on your second point. Hispanics are (and will remain) the fastest-growing demographic in America. There are actions that could be taken to change that, but those actions that would be needed to change it are so draconian or totalitarian that the vast majority of Euro-Americans would shy away from them.
You’re pretty much correct in your final sentence, but what you wish for isn’t going to happen. I would hazard a guess (and it’s ONLY “a guess”) that about the highest percentage of “the Hispanic vote” that the GOP/conservatives are ever going to see is in the 35-40% range, if that high.
If there are 20 million Hispanics, that vote (at best) will go:
- Republican, 8 million
- Democrat, 12 million
.... a spread of 4 million votes.
When they become 30 million, the vote will then be:
- Republican, 12 million
- Democrat, 18 million
... then with a spread of 6 million votes.
What this means is that the Republican party and American Euro-conservatives are destined to be confronted by an ever-increasing Hispanic demographic that guarantees a higher vote total for the left and the ‘rats with each successive generation/election.

Unfortunately, it’s the one I foresee.
He may not have blatantly campaigned for Hussein, but he sure threw the election to him. We all watched him do it. We (probably most) watched his well-prepared concession at 10 PM or so while Calif. results were still coming in. I’d never seen an election thrown like that in nearly 70 years.
