‘Cain Solutions’ Still to Come

Patrick Brennan

December 03, 2011 2:44 PM

In a scheduled announcement today, Herman Cain “suspended” his campaign, weighed down by proliferating allegations about sexual harassment and infidelity. In his speech, he explained that he would end his run for president, but would continue promoting his unique solutions and policy views, through a website, thecainsolutions.com.

As of today, the site lacks content, only offering a chance to subscribe “to be notified when the full site goes live.” It doesn’t suggest much about what kind of policies it will be meant to promote, only stating that “The PEOPLE will choose. Not politicians. Not media outlets. The People.”

One can subscribe with both an e-mail address and street address, suggesting Cain may continue to build a direct-mail database, or has other plans.

Ok, I must be dense or something. But, just like Sarah Palin, who I would have voted for in less than a heartbeat, Herman Cain is going to make his voice heard.

So, we have a couple of good voices in the market place, but what the hell good is that if the candidate that is picked to run against 0bama doesn’t believe in them?

Sarah said you don’t need a title to effect change. I’m not sure that is right. Look what 0bama has done with the title.

What good are these ideas if there isn’t anyone who has the power to implement them?

I’m not asking rhetorically, either. I really do want to understand.

Time to concentrate on 2016.

Herman is actually taking a page from Sarah’s playbook, IMHO.

“I’m not retreating, I’m reloading”.

I wish him well, there’s no reason he can’t remain a voice for conservatives.

Stupid move on Cain’s part, makes him look guilty as charged. What ever happened to his rhetoric about not letting the media run him off?

Cain could have won this if he had stayed the course. I supported him until today (see my other posts). As far as I am concerned, he is a quitter.

And they spelled “politicians” wrong.

He suspended, he didn’t quit. Maybe make a comeback, who knows...He is the only one I would have voted for...

Sorry Herman. You are an also ran. Ain’t interested in your ideas at this point.

I agree with you 100%. It seems like all the outsiders with any chance to clean up DC (Perot, Palin, and now Cain) collapse like a sack of wet laundry as soon as the going gets tough.

Anyone has the right to quit. But then don't sit on the sidelines and give me lectures what must be done to save the country. Because I for one want to listen to a fighter, not a quitter.

It is over. Suspended is a euphemism for quit in these campaigns. Seen the word used in past campaigns over the years.

What a crying shame....to see this good man, his wife and family having to go thur this because someone didn’t want him in the White House, and that is where he would have ended up, imho, I hope when everything comes out, who ever the person/s are, I hope they feel really good...hope they can look at themselves in the mirrors they pass. I know if I did something like that, I couldn’t. I don’t know who to vote for now, there really isn’t anyone...maybe the Donald will change his mind....

Time to concentrate on 2016.

America will no longer exist as we know it in 2016, much less have anything that looks like a free election. This was our last shot.

I'll bet that a lot of money changed hands here. The accusers might feel guilty about what they did, but they'll have plenty of money to ease the pain.

Like you, I hope Trump gets back in. We need a strong outsider to clean up this mess. For awhile, it thought that it would be Cain.

One can't do much without money. I'm sure it was much more about that than anything else.

Suspended means quit. Candidates use the term "suspended" because there are legal ramifications having to do with raising money and matching funds. Cain already said he will be endorsing another candidate very soon.

Politically, the Cain train has derailed and is lying in a ditch on the side of the road. All the rest of the talk during his speech was standard political boiler plate stuff which could have been summarized by saying "Yeah, I'm not running for President anymore but my wife doesn't hate me and I still wanna remain relevant". It's the same speech given countless times by numerous politicians in the past, and we will hear it again for as long as we live into the future.

That's right, he can now follow in the footsteps of his conservative colleagues. Imagine how much more money he'll make anchoring on Fox. First Huckabee, then Palin, now Cain.

I’m sick and tired of liking a candidate, and then he/she disappoints me by dropping out. In 2008, my guy was Fred Thompson, but he didn’t have enough heart to keep on fighting. I wanted Palin, but the left drove her out. And now Cain. I should be able to have my candidate to vote for without some dirty trickster driving them out of the race.
