Thanks for the link to the article.
I notice she doesn’t deny him giving her the papers that day, just that they didn’t consider it a big deal. As for the tumor being benign - they certainly wouldn’t have known it that day.
I don’t buy that he couldn’t have waited a few days till she was out of the hospital instead of handing her the papers that day. Even if a divorce is what she wanted - giving her the papers when recovering for surgery was NOT showing care and support for her. No matter what - even if you WANT a divorce - reading the actual legal papers is a very emotionally draining experience and one he shouldn’t have put her into right after surgery. All JMHO, but I can guarantee I’m not the only woman to feel this way.
Besides, it’s not just that one example... His second marriage ended the EXACT same way - except she DIDN’T want a divorce, and had JUST been diagnosed with MS. She required too much “upkeep” at that point - like Gingrich himself pointed out with his supposed quote of “You’re a jaguar and I need a Chevrolet”.
I don’t know if I’ll be able to get over my indignation at this man’s past behaviors. I’ll have to give it some time.
That’s cool. Thanks for saying that. I can’t really disagree with anything in your post. It’s an unfortunate situation, but for Cain (and his handlers, if they knew) to not anticipate some degree of controversy just shows how unprepared he really must have been.
Newt...I loved him when he spoke at RNC in Dallas, such fire. I'd vote for him, but not sure he's electable.
Perry...Perry is actually pretty conservative. I don't like his illegals stand, but noone is perfect. He can't debate worth a crap....I'd vote for him.
Romney...never liked the guy, but would vote for him rather than have Obama again......sad.
Bachman....not electable....but would vote for her.
Palin...love her...wish she could be drafted in some way to run.
All is not lost....Cain sure looked like a good one...still can't believe all of the skeletons coming out. Crap and I almost sent him some money.
No problem...
It’s post #4 on this thread:

Jim says, the article is a “must-read”. I agree with him, even though I’m still soul-searching on supporting Gingrich.
And you are wrong; Perry has made a career of advocating for ILLEGAL aliens. What's more, he is pro-amnesty as is Newt. No thanks to both.
From the daughter: My mother and father were already in the process of getting a divorce, which she requested.
SHE asked for a divorce. Why would HE be giving HER papers? Especially if it was already "in the process"?
“SHE asked for a divorce. Why would HE be giving HER papers? Especially if it was already “in the process”?”
Wasn’t cancer, was benign tumor they knew about. I heard Newt speak to this yesterday. He didn’t have any papers with him. He took the two duaghters to the hospital to see the mom and while he was there, he and the wife argued over the terms of the divorc. He said he shouldn’t have engaged in an argument.
I have no love nor illusions about the media.
We have no way of knowing of knowing whether the accusations against Cain have any truth to them. He did the right thing in getting out of the way- his personal life had become the focus instead of the serious issues facing the country, and the goal of defeating Obama.
There are other candidates. They, too, will be put through the wringer. How they handle the media and the attacks will determine if they have what it takes.
Did they argue? He said that? See the link to the daughters account in 1056.
Now that Cain’s out, who do you support?
I’ll ask, despite your snarkines.
Thank you very much.
I’m voting for Newt... he’s winning and he will get Obama out of our White House.
I DO NOT believe that I will agree with many things that Newt may do, but if our country doesn’t survive, NONE of it matters. Good luck with your considerations.
Agin, thank you.
Agin=Again.......
“Its pretty darn lame when the majority of us cant agree on one conservative”
I am beginning to think that conservatives are afraid to nominate the most conservative candidate for fear of losing the election. Would explain the Newt surge.
Santorum is about as conservative a choice as we have, yet he is barely making traction, according to the polls anyway.
Same for Bachmann.
Real sad that Cain had to suspend his race.
The way things are going I wouldn’t be surprised to see McCAIN jump in the race - egads!
I only know General Pace by reputation as he was still at the Naval Academy when my father retired (1965). Last future USMC flag officer I had any personal contact w/was General Joe Hoar; who replaced GEN Schwarzkopf as CENTCOM Commander and did many of the daily press briefings for Desert Storm. He was a Captain serving under my Dad when he was CO Marine Barracks, NWS Yorktown, VA. I was a junior in high school at that time; so, I doubt that he would remember me.
At any rate General Pace was a stellar Marine ...Bronze Star and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Ribbon; both w/Combat “V” device; first Marine flag officer to serve as Chairman Joint Chiefs. Looks like he had some run ins w/Rumsfeld and Gates chose to not renominate him under the second George W. Bush administration ...the latter is from Wikipedia; so, can't vouch for the accuracy of that detail.
Apparently he was approached to run for John Warner's Senate seat here in VA; but, for whatever reason that didn't happen. His statements about homosexual activity being “immoral” also drew some “fire” from Romney ...which is one more reason not to vote for Mitt.
Looks like Pace is heading up Pelikan for Behrman now from what I could glean. If he's like my father he probably is too damned honest to want to sully his reputation w/politics.
As to the racist comments; that was disappointing; but, I think a lot of it was generated by trolls ...one yo-yo posted some racist remarks so I snarkily suggested he must be channelling George Lincoln Rockwell ...swoosh; went so far over his head he never even felt the “shock wave” or knew he'd been insulted.
So, back to you ...what's your list look like as far as backup plans for candidate?
Thx for the comments!
FReegards,

I don’t have a candidate at this point. When and if I do decide, I know it won’t be pro-amnesty RINOs Newt or Perry.
“We have no way of knowing of knowing whether the accusations against Cain have any truth to them.”
Actually, given that the accuser is unwilling to submit evidence that would prove the claim and release the records, I think we can safely conclude that the allegations are baseless.
And what do you think would happen if a few thousand smallish flyers of it were distributed and placed throughout, say, a few black churches, or the public buildings and coffee shops of Compton?
Larry Elder said something really scary the other day -- that great as it is that the odious Barney Franks is going away ... God help us, it's shaping up that Maxine Waters will replace him.
I wonder if Elder has seen this graphic?
See how much we “think” we know about people and yet we can be so way off base?
I have a member of my family that suffers from fibromyalgia and takes nothing. My ma is 78 and takes the smallest dose water pill. My pop died of cancer..since he didn’t want to go through traditional treatment..the doctors didn’t treat him for pain..he sat at home without pain meds until six days before he died. No, our family does not depend on meds to get them through.
I asked about the HPV shot because I was lookin’ at Perry before I heard about it. In my mind, there is not enough reason to mandate stuff like that to people. How many people gave it against their will and didn’t realize how to go about opting out. There was a local tv news about a 13 yr old girl that had the first shot..went home and couldn’t move. She had been active in sports and could no longer get off the couch. My gosh..she wasn’t having sex. There are doctors out there that caution patients against having it..just sayin’.
I’m not talking about the legit donation that may or may not have come to Perry from Merck. I’m talking lobbyist and their powers to persuade politicians to do their bidding. I can’t remember if it was a brother-in-law or what of Perry’s that an article said was involved with Merck. That has to be anwered for me to even start to look at him seriously.
I believe in free enterprise..I also believe citizens shouldn’t be brow beat to take shots whether HPV or flu in order for some company like Merck to make their millions.
