It just shows how far the GOP has come. There was a time we might not have warmed up to a homewrecker who slept w a married man. Now all she has to do is ‘speak conservative’ and she’s home free.
And the Dems dare to call us straight-laced.
“homewrecker”
What? Did she drag him from the house against his will? She wasn’t married - he was. But, this is her fault? Guess if she hadn’t been there, he would have been loyal? She is not very big - would think he could have fought her off.
You have that right. While I know things get complicated sometimes and people are flawed and of course in context that Newt was 16 when he started things with his first love 24 year old Jackie Bately his Geometry teacher. I’ve not did a whole lot of research but the troubling part is his series of alleged affairs with campaign workers and serial divorces. The worst I’ve read makes anything alleged against Herman Cain look tame. Now of course this is old news and it is one thing to revisit the known flaws of a man verses the flaws of a man one was not aware of.
The question is will Newt’s rise to higher office result in new temptations.
Here is an excerpt to place things in clearer context:
“Gingrich resigned from the House in November of 1998, forced out after widespread GOP losses in the 1998 mid-term elections. Following his resignation, Gingrich’s behavior increasingly erratic, and in May of ‘99 he told Marianne he wanted out. During a joint counseling session, Maryanne said Gingrich repeatedly compared her to a Jaguar sports car. “’I can’t handle a Jaguar right now,’” he would say, “’All I want is a Chevrolet.’” Asked whether she was willing to tolerate Gingrich’s ongoing affair with Callista Bisek to preserve their marriage, Marianne refused. “
The problem I’m having is the deeper I look the worse stuff I find. Newt has also shown just as much a promiscuity with ideas as he has shown with women. While I do believe he is generally conservative but he has demonstrated clearly that he will go off on political tangents and down convenient ‘rabbit holes’. I’m just not sure if I want to go down the ‘rabbit hole’ with Newt Gingrich.
I don't think that's exactly what they call us.
