COMMENTARY | Former New York congressman Guy Molinari has a few things to say about former Speaker of the House and current presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich -- none of them nice. He speaks from experience, having worked with the presidential candidate in the 80s, a few years prior to the Gingrich becoming Speaker of the House. And Molinari bluntly states that Gingrich is "evil" and a liar, according to CNN.
"Evil is a tough word, but frankly I can't think of a better word that describes what he is all about," said Molinari, who now works as an adviser to the Mitt Romney presidential campaign. "He is an evil person. That's the way he is. He'll lie; he'll do anything to get his way."
And there is definitely some truth to that. Take, for instance, Gingrich's complete twisting of the truth to brand the Obama administration as reckless with taxpayer dollars just so he can become the Republican nominee for president. Politifact published a piece on Dec. 1 that parsed a Gingrich claim that not only was President Obama the "best food stamp president in history" but that food stamps could now be used for anything, like trips to Hawaii. Even millionaires were getting food stamps, according to the former Speaker. Politifact labeled Gingrich's claims "Pants On Fire," their worst branding for lies and misleading statements.

Susan Molianri, daughter of Guy, is married to former congressman Bill Paxon. In the late '90s, Paxon orchestrated a coup against Gingrich in the hope of replacing him as Speaker. Dick Armey tipped off Gingrich and the coup failed. "Rising GOP star" Bill Paxon then declined to run for re-election and sailed off into oblivion.
Bill Paxton is Molinari’s son in law and one of the chiefs who tried to overthrow Newt and wanted the speakership for himself.

In the summer of 1997 several House Republicans, who saw Newt Gingrich’s public image as a liability, attempted to replace him as Speaker. The challenge began July 9 with a meeting between Republican conference chairman John Boehner of Ohio and Republican leadership chairman Paxon. According to their plan, House Majority Leader Dick Armey, House Majority Whip Tom DeLay, Boehner and Paxon were to present Gingrich with an ultimatum: resign, or be voted out. However, Armey balked at the proposal to make Paxon the new Speaker, and told his chief of staff to warn Gingrich about the coup.[1][2]
On July 11, Gingrich met with senior Republican leadership to assess the situation. He explained that under no circumstance would he step down. If he was voted out, there would be a new election for Speaker, which would allow for the possibility that Democrats—along with dissenting Republicans—would vote in Dick Gephardt as Speaker. On July 16, Paxon offered to resign his post, feeling that he had not handled the situation correctly, as the only member of the leadership who had been appointed to his position—by Gingrich—instead of elected.[3]

And Bill McCollum — Here I thought he was the current AG because I’ve seen him interviewed several times on his lawsuit which is before, or heading to, the USSC.
Guy Molinari doesn’t like Newt? Let’s put this in perspective.
1. Molinari’s daughter, former Representative Susan Molinari is and was married to then representative Bill Paxon. Paxon tried to oust Gingrich after the 1996 election, and when they failed, Molinari and Paxon were in political Siberia and both retired.
2. Molinari is a Romney supporter.
3. Guy Molinari supported Big LAbor and attacked Reagan and conservatives in the 1980s. He was ranking Republican Member of the Investigations and Oversight Subcommittee of the Public Works Committee. Newt replaced him in this role and this supporter of forced unionism never forgave him.

Interesting that that accounts makes it sound as though Boehner went along with the try to oust Gingrich.
Yeah, that made me sit up a bit. I wasn’t paying much attention to politics back then. But it’s interesting. Wonder what their relationship is like today...
I haven’t noticed Boehner getting all publicly enthusiastic about his former boss’s recent success in surging in the polls.
Now that I think about it, that’s interesting.
You’d think that even if Boehner and Gingrich weren’t on the best of terms, that Boehner would be wanting to get in on the ground floor of a Gingrich presidency if it looks like it will happen.
If we continue to see some reticence there, maybe it’s time to wonder if Boehner and those guys who worked with Gingrich in the 90’s know something that keeps them from supporting him fully.

Ah, yes...I remember that little fiasco.
Boehner has been very quiet lately.
It’s indeed interesting. I’m thinking it’s more along the lines of bridges that John burned in the past that he didn’t think he’d have to cross again. Maybe he’s a tich worried?
