Paul: Gingrich being given a ‘free ride’ by sex-obsessed journalists
Daily Caller ^ | 120111 | Steven Nelson

Republican presidential candidate and Texas Rep. Ron Paul told reporters in a New Hampshire grocery store Thursday that former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is being a “free ride” by sex-obsessed journalists.

Paul explained that a pointed attack ad released by his campaign Wednesday was necessary because the media’s coverage of the GOP horse race “is way out of whack.”

“I think that he’s getting a free ride,” Paul said, according to Boston NPR station WBUR. “And I’ve worked with him for a long time. And I think the points I made on the various issues, he’s a flip-flopper, so he can hardly be the alternative to Mitt Romney.”

“What I find is a shame is look at the amount of energy the media put into talking about sex,” Paul explained. “And how much energy does the media put into exposing what a Newt Gingrich believes and what he’s done?”

As much as I despise Newt Gingrich, I really don’t care about his sex life. We seem to hold modern politicians to much higher standards than even our founders could uphold.

If anything, our founders were more discrete and had the advantage of living without radio, TV and the internet.

I think Newt has them a little afraid of him.

"wolf" Blitzer sure wanted no part of him last debate- despite all his bravado about preparing for snappy comebacks in case Newt let him have it.

and the reason is obvious:

(Is that the lowest score ever on that show?)

Every 58th issue that comes up, Paul stumbles on to something. This may be one of those times.

...”he’s a flip-flopper...”

Paul goes from total open borders to Super Minuteman, from Libertarian to Republican, flip-flops on “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell....” His list is just as long.

Yet another case of Paul practicing the science of hypocrisy. “That guy flip-flopped! (Don’t pay any attention to my flip-flops)”

You don’t think the MSM is simply biding their time on Newt? If Cain is out they will look for another target. Maybe they plan to use it if he wins the primaries.

Also Ron Paul’s drones are ideological shape-shifters. One minute, they are Libertarian, the next minute, they are more Conservative than both of us put together.

I agree with Rep. Paul on most issues. On taxation. On monetary policy. On fiscal policy. On civil liberties. On scope of government.

Hell, even on foreign policy, I think he's closer to reality than the hubristic Wilsonians who've been setting policy for the last several decades. ( I call them hubristic Wilsonians because if I simply refer to them as neocons, the brow-beaters will say I hate Jews.)

We seem to hold modern politicians to much higher standards

I wish. Clinton, Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd..... tell me when we started holding them to unreasonably high standards?

Politicians are the lowest scum on earth. We have never held them to any standards as far as I can tell.

Some people want to. Besides, if your wife can't trust you, why should we??

Free ride until Cain is out and then the attacks on Newt will begin, it is too much to ask for a politician that has character, and hasn’t messed around (although I am not sure Cain has).

Shut up Ron Paul!
There is no perfect candidate...objective isn’t to throw each other under the bus but to defeat the commie.

Is Gingrich a commie?
Is Perry a commie?
Is Cain a commie?
Is Romney a commie?
Is Obama a commie?
One of these things is not like the other; one of these things is NOT the same.

Paul forgets the heat Gingrich has taken over the past 10 years over SEX.

GOP = STUPID PARTY.

When they turn on Newt, and they will ... I hope Newt is ready with some facts about THEIR private lives as well. Put it back in their faces Newt. Surely we don’t have a pure and virtuous press! Would love to see Newt and other candidates turn over the stones in the media’s personal backyards.
