Data derived from the FBIs National Instant Criminal Background Check revealed that a record number of Americans bought guns on Black Friday. Opposing Views reported, via Free Republic:
Data derived from the FBIs National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) shows that November 25, 2011, Black Friday, had the most background checks for firearm purchases in a single day (129,166) with a 32 percent increase over the previous NICS high (November 28, 2008). Federal law requires FBI background checks on all individuals purchasing firearms from federally licensed retailers.
These statistics represent the number of firearm background checks initiated through NICS. They do not represent the number of firearms sold. Based on varying state laws and purchase scenarios, a one-to-one correlation cannot be made between a firearm background check and a firearm sale.
More citizens lawfully exercising their Second Amendment right to carry a firearm, coupled with a growing awareness since the Supreme Courts decisions in Heller and McDonald that the Second Amendment protects an individual fundamental right to keep and bear arms, helps to explain the continuing rise in sales of firearms and firearm-related products throughout the Untied States, said National Shooting Sports Foundation Senior Vice President and General Counsel Lawrence G. Keane. Clearly, Black Friday was a big day for both the firearms industry and our nations law-abiding gun owners.
Once again
It looks like Barack Obama was the best thing that ever happened to the gun industry.
Is this why Black Friday sales were up 7% over last year?
I bought a High Point 9mm.
Just called my local gun shop. Going in to do background check tomo.rrow
Buying my first gun. Most probably 12 or 20 g shotgun.

I enjoy mine. Great value.
Me too! It's arriving via USPS at the shop this afternoon. Husband ordered it last week.
S&W Bodyguard for me...
That’s exactly the weapon my wife wants for Christmas, great concealed carry pisol.
Bought the 9mm carbine too. fun.
Ruger LC9 for me. Anyone know of a good pocket holster for it?
With a shotgun, watch out for weight.
If you’re concerned about recoil, a lighter gun will kick harder than a heavier one, so a light 20 might not kick less than a heavier 12.
Recoil alleviation: “automatic” with a butt pad - both absorb recoil.
Make sure it fits your stature as well.
Thanks OB1, the price was too good to pass up.
The last few years I’ve largely foregone going out Black Friday in favor of lurking on Amazon’s lightning deals. They offer different items every 15 minutes for good discount until they sell out.
At least three times during this year’s sale they offered gun cases. I’ve never seen that before. Sign of the times....
I like mine...
I’m broke and couldn’t contribute. I did clean my 1911. Does that count??
I’m going to watch for any responses to your question, as I do believe the LC9 is what my husband ordered for me.
I like the High Noon holster but they take several weeks to make it, and I heard Galco makes a nice one. I’ll go with my Uncle Mike cheap-o until I decide.
No, but it's pretty close.
