Author, lawyer and former game show host Ben Stein says politics are getting a little too personal, and believes candidates should not be judged by their "gossipy love life."
Appearing on CBS' "The Early Show," Stein said the coverage of GOP president contender Herman Cain and allegations of extramarital affairs was getting to be too much.

Just as with Clintoon....I’m not as concerned about the affair, as I am the abject lying about it. Everyone makes mistakes—but it’s those who don’t come clean (c’mon, hundreds of texts, at all times of the day or night...and giving her money secretly? Yes, in a divorce court it would of been proven as an affair.) whom I really cannot trust.
Cain should quit lying about it. Of course now that he has issued all the denials....even if he told the truth now, people would know he’s a creep and a liar.
I’m with Stein here. If he only admitted to causing pain in his marriage, and told the MSM to shove it, passengers and bags of money would jump back ip on the train!
Cain’s opponents have committed adultery, allegedly, anyway. That fact cannot derail the train. He just can’t be lying to us. he can’t stand by “I didn’t have sexual relations with that woman.”. He needs to be honest yet discreet. He has a good chance again If If If he comes clean without sharing details, and spanks the media on their double standard re candidates. Where was this anal probing on Obama and Edwards?
Ya know......when you look at the divorce rate in the US at about 50%. When you consider the numbers are said to be even higher for those cheating on their spouses, what do people expect from a candidate?

..and, if the rumors are true, one of the women flipping this weekend. That could change the entire game.
Part of the problem for Cain is that he has no record in public office. If he had a public record he could run on, this may not have mattered so much.
A lot of us are assuming that he did something wrong with this woman. The devil could be in the details. He could have slept with her once or twice many years ago, and for 13 years after, she has blackmailed him for money.
I don’t feel, at this dangerous point in our nation, that his sex life is that important and rules out a Tea Party President. If we can lie with a Down Low Obama or a serial philanderer like Gingrich, then I prefer an imperfect Herman Cain.
If he is really telling the truth about not having slept with her, he needs to fight harder. But if he’s lied so far, get out there in front of the cameras with your wife, beside a Christmas tree, admit you’ve caused her pain, and get bleeping ANGRY at the media’s double standards! Ask the media where they were when everyone knew John Edwards was boffing his videographer, and got her pregnant during his campaign, all while his wife was dying of cancer!
Clinton wasn’t running for Pope, either, but he was (rightly) impeached. Either we stand for family values, or we don’t. If we don’t, evil not only wins, but runs rampant. I normally like Stein, but he’s dead wrong on this one. I can’t believe, let alone understand, how so many people who call themselves conservatives, are willing to give Cain a walk on this.
That really does say it all doesn't it. You can choose either to think the best of someone or the worst. You chose the latter.

Sorry. I would love to think Cain did nothing wrong at all. But even his attorney “fought” this by saying it was a private matter between adults and the media shouldn’t subject candidates to this inquisition! And what man pays monthly to support a woman his wife doesn’t know about? Many bold leader type men have an appetite that takes decades to learn to control. I believe in the Good of Herman Cain but Occam’s Razor dictates that he probably did something with this friend at one time.
I do think the best of him. Good men fall. Gd made our sex drives pretty strong and I don’t know what Cain’s marriage was like.

No, he was impeached for lying, and lying about “never having sex with that woman.” Do not forget what started it all.
