WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. citizens are legitimate military targets when they take up arms with al-Qaida, top national security lawyers in the Obama administration said Thursday.

The lawyers were asked at a national security conference about the CIA killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, a U.S. citizen and leading al-Qaida figure. He died in a Sept. 30 U.S. drone strike in the mountains of Yemen.

And what exactly is the proof necessary before ordering the termination of said citizen?

They are making their end run around posse commitatus.

The law they are writing - in secret and no doubt being pushed by the Zero admin - is trying to codify what is being stated in this article. The heart of it is officially designating the CONUS as a battlefield so they can conduct military operations here. That’s the key that opens the door. Otherwise it’s a pissing match with Congress and the courts and the states.

Yes I know the law says that American citizens are exempt. The govt won’t care. They have their secret system set up and if they grab you, even if they admit they even have you or killed you they will say the courts have no jurisdiction or some other lame excuse. Whattaya gonna do about it?

They’ll do it till we become used to it. Never too much too fast, but gradual. Then secretly they’ll change the law some way to eliminate the restriction on targeting Americans. They’ll pick us apart till nothing but simpering mush is left. By then the frog is boiled.

They will have their global empire damn it. American will either come to heel or they’ll burn it down or die trying.

If a US Citizen is captured or targeted in a declared Foreign War Zone, it’s just too bad if he gets a bullet in the head.

IF a US Citizen is OUTSIDE of that Zone, he is still entitled to all of the protections the Constitution provides, IMH, uninformed opinion.

Yemen and Pakistan ARE NOT DFWZ’s

Obviously none.

See the case of former Marine Jose Guerena in Tucson, AZ.

SWAT team broke into his home and fired 71 rounds at him. Hitting him 22 times and letting him bleed out.

NO trial, NO jury but he is none the less dead.

And afterwards, the police stated they did nothing wrong, except not present their side of the story earlier. (2 months later)

Lawsuit pending.

BHO does not intend to give up power. Posse Commitatus must be rendered null and void in order to control this nation when the 2012 elections are terminated.

This man is a strange brew of homosexual/marxist/muslom/black liberation theologist/narcisist that gives him an outlook that prohibits reality from being percieved in a truthful way.

Translation, he is a left wing nutcase with some kind of a marter complex, if he cannot be supreme leader, no one will be leader.

I suppose you are right. He was not an enemy.

The police in Tucson in keystone cops fashion did however murder him.

The question keeps coming back of why the warrant was even issued. There was nothing to support it.

First: if ANYONE is captured in a war zone, anywhere - it is a war crime to execute them without trial.

Second, I ask again, what is the proof necessary to allow the executive to order the preventive execution of a US Citzen, anywhere (or even foreigners for that matter)?

If Obama ever suggested firing on our own people. Then like your tag line says: we are like blades of grass. They had better be prepared for substantial number of citizens to fire on anyone that follows that unlawfull order. I love our cops and our troops, but there will be blood, and tons of new wounded warriors.

There goes your Due Process.... What’s the point of the Judaical Branch if the Executive Branch is judge, jury and executioner? Whatever happened to checks and balances?

Guess Obama now Trumps the U.S. Constitution?

Department of Homeland Security (DHS): On April 7, 2009, a secret 10-page DHS document was sent to law-enforcement agencies nationwide entitled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment,” the DHS report stated:

Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.

Not that far fetched to equate Rightwing Extremists to "Domestic Terrorists"...

Obama knows if we keep losing our freedoms we will rise in an armed, united force to fight for the last dying breath of the America we used to know.

This is his way to prepare for mass roundups of citizens who oppose his communist plans.

If a US Citizen is captured or targeted in a declared Foreign War Zone...

That's a gaping-hole you could drop a J-DAM through. I'm not aware of any formal process of designating a "foreign warzone". One morning we wake up to News of drone stikes in Yemen. Who declared that (besides the president)? Never did clear up the legality of the Libyan operation, either.

If I understand correctly, the newly passed legal provisions mean that US citizen are NOT exempt from imprisonment within America’s borders, without trial, if wanted by the military.
