A gay couple who adopted nine boys have been accused of sexually assaulting two of the children.
But another adopted son of George Harasz and Doug Wirth insists his two fathers are innocent, and says his siblings have a disorder in which troubled foster children lash out at adults who try to connect with them.
Married 'fathers' Harasz and Wirth, who say they consider caring for hard-to-place children a personal challenge, adopted three sets of siblings, all boys, since 2000. George's two biological children and their mother also live at the large Victorian home in Glastonbury, Connecticut.
Accused: George Harasz, left, and Doug Wirth, right, were taken into custody charged with assaulting two of the boys they have adopted since 2000
According to their website, the family also run a dog breeding business from their home, with the original aim of helping the children learn to love and care for something.
Earlier this week Harasz was arrested and charged with assaulting two children and Wirth with assaulting one, police told the Hartford Courant.
Harasz, 48, was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, aggravated first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault, two counts of risk of injury to a minor and cruelty to persons. No, he preferred action to words. The Gospel of John tells us that Jesus was so angered by moneylenders and salesmen in the temple that he made a whip out of cords and drove them out like animals.
From the article:
Harasz and Wirth were registered with a private adoption agency. What made them rare was that they wanted to adopt DCF children, said Ken Mysogland, DCF's director of foster care and adoption services.
Most parents who have agencies searching for children for them want to adopt foreign infants, or kids who are not in state care, he said.
Children formerly under DCF care make up the large majority of adopted children in Connecticut, but usually the private adoption companies aren't involved in the process.
In this case. the Downey Side adoption agency, representing Harasz and Wirth, reached out to DCF and said it had a couple who wanted to adopt DCF children.
The private agency did a "home study'' of the household and presented it "as a possible match
for the sibling groups in need of placement,'' Mysogland said in written answers to a series of questions from The Courant.

Not at all...I wonder what happened to the dogs/pups when all this went down. I just drove by their house, you can see it from the main road, and there were an unusual number of cars in the yard; I presume family members, giving comfort to the scumbag that made bail.
