You want us to airbrush out Newt's past

I don't put Newt on a pedestal at all. I leave that sort of thing for more naive Freepers to do with their candidates of choice.

Newt is not my hero. I don't go to sleep with his picture under my pillow.

To me he is simply the least imperfect of those who are liable to wind up on my primary ballot.

If DeMint, Daniels, Barbour, Ryan, or Jindal were in the race, Newt would not be my first choice.

But they aren't and he is.

As Rush said yesterday [paraphrasing]: “Of course none of the Republicans running are perfect. I’m not running.”

It's a sad commentary that we're faced with the lackluster lineup we have, but that's the reality of the situation.

That said, we've reached a stage where millions of Americans have completely had it with Washington, and they're ready to either bolt the party, boycott the election, or rebel by writing in their choice for president.

People can rail against that sort of thinking all they want, but that too, is the reality of the situation. Something's got to give.

Newt can sing the tune, but he's proven that he'll change it in a heartbeat, and sing with the left at the drop of a hat. The man hasn't proven to me that he's got core convictions and the courage to stand with them, no matter what. That quirk of personality scares me in a leader. It's absolutely his worst trait, and completely wrong for the task at hand.

Rush had a good piece yesterday about "perfection".

He said that the framers of The Constitution were mindful of the fact that people are not perfect.

There will never be a perfect candidate or a perfect President.

Newt admits he has made mistakes but who has not?

Loved the idea of him following Zero around rebutting his comments and claims within hours.
