"If the governments track record is any indicator, we can expect these loopholes to be exploited at every possible opportunity.
Just as the federal government has used the PATRIOT Acts so-called Sneak-and-Peek, or delayed notice, warrants for over 1,600 drug cases and only 15 cases of terrorism in 2006-2009 , we can expect the government to use the bill - S. 1867 - for detaining people for completely illegitimate reasons, argues the rights organization."
At least you will never be attacked again because of your freedoms.

We have never had such a brazen and potential tyrant in the Oval Office before Barak Obama. The idea of giving him power to incarcerate American citizens on American soil without charges, without counsel, without resort to habeas corpus, and without limitation, is simply terrifying.
Frightening is a word which would describe creating such a power to the likes of Hillary Clinton. By extension, one should be very very concerned about empowering any Democrat to evade the Bill of Rights.
Why would anyone trash the Constitution and make a tyrant of a man who was intimate with Bill Ayres? Why would anyone permit himself to be cast into a dungeon by a disciple of Saul Alinsky? Why would the Congress of the United States make it possible for a man who was mentored by a self-proclaimed communist, Frank Marshall Davis, to consign Americans to a star chamber? Why would America permit a commander in chief who has surrounded himself with an acknowledged communist, countless radicals, and admirers of Mao to become a judge, jury, and jailer of our citizens?
Has Congress lost its mind?

Or, even earlier, Lincoln suspended writs of habeas corpus for "security" reasons.

I would call this legislation the 'Groucho Marx Bill', as he said in his role as Rufus T. Firefly in 'Duck Soup',
"Line 'em up against the wall, and goes the weasel!"
That is what the feds are planning to do to 'We The People'.

This should please the law & order types that hang out here. After all if you’ve done nothing wrong you have nothing to fear. Right?? Well, if this passes the House and Barry signs it (which he says he won’t) then the L&O types will be dancing in the streets on the Constitution.

The most unsettling aspect is that the deciding factor in determining if an individual can be detained indefinitely is not any proof of guilt, but instead entirely by officials in the Executive Branch, which, according to the ACLU would be following some future agency regulations.

When I'm in agreement with the ACLU, you know something isn't right!!!
I think 90% of Americans were for the Patriot Act following 9/11 and that was because of fear, other 10% hate America and want it destroyed.
But this isn't directed at Al-Qaeda, they get their $100,000 a year prison vacation, with ethnic meals and probably a spa.
This is directed towards, "those who cling to their guns and religion..."

For Frak’s sake everyone: READ the bill. Even if you don’t have time for that, at least READ the highlighted section:
(1) UNITED STATES CITIZENS.The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.
I’m not sure how much clearer that needs to be.
