Last night Alevda King went on CNN to defend Herman Cain. She says she’s known him since 2000 and that he is absolutely not a “skirt chaser”.

No, I’m a playwright. I often write comedies. They are super difficult because you have to use every single word carefully and tentatively - or else, you ruin the joke. Much harder than death, taxes or drama! Both my father and brother were and are very successful comedy writers in Hollywood and New York. So I’m very proud of my heritage. They taught me from childhood what was funny and what was not. Of course, it was a very urban, basically Jewish-humor world I grew up in. Not at all Hee Haw.

MLK had his open secret flaws, one of them being that he was a bad womanizer. But I’d think that’s all the more reason that King’s niece ought to be able to tell that Herman Cain is NOT a womanizer. Cain is not Uncle Martin.
I’d sure say the mindset for that has to be different from, say, Jeff Foxworthy’s writers. You can be a bit broader with redneck funnies. It amazes me how the Jewish literary community has such subtle humor, and yet it has a wide appeal among gentiles too (as long as it doesn’t depend so heavily upon a Jewish context it can’t be understood). Maybe if God held a mountain over me upon some smoke (one probably overly literal interpretation of the biblical passage) I’d crack up too... JUST KIDDING!

I guess it’s up to her and whoever has contracts with her as a writer whether to reveal the identity any of the comedy plays she did, and you’d probably have to go visit them, she couldn’t just put it up on the web for all to see. This stuff doesn’t come cheap.
Maybe President Cain needs to change it back to the War Department first. Sort of like yelling FORE! before you tee off.

I’m a half-jew, by Orthodox doctrine a gentile because it was only Dad who was Jewish. My late father was smart, if not always subtle. I today go to church by choice; I believe the theology and the presence of God.
