Lenny Bruce once said that every Goy in NYC was a Jew and every Jew in Sheboygan was a Goy. A lot of truth in that. Me, I’m a NYC Goy who happens to like urban-Jewish jokes.
Most people think that Jewish humor comes from their dire history and from that original “tough Jew” himself: Moses.
You have to write for that audience and so you are simpatico about what a kosher funny bone is considered to be.

I’m a half-jew, by Orthodox doctrine a gentile because it was only Dad who was Jewish. My late father was smart, if not always subtle. I today go to church by choice; I believe the theology and the presence of God.
