O God, who by your Providence did lead our forefathers to this land where they found refuge from oppression and freedom to worship you, and who in this land has made the people the ministers of your just rule, turn their hearts to you, that holding their citizenship as a sacred trust, they may guard, defend and use it according to your will. Also, that serving you with willing, joyful and obedient hearts, they may cherish their freedom as a blessing of your Gospel. We beseech you ever to guide our Nation in the way of truth and peace so that we may never fail in the blessing which you have promised to those people whose God is the Lord. We also humbly implore you to regard the President of the United States, his counselors, and all others in authority over us; that, guided by your Holy Spirit, they may be high in purpose, wise in counsel, and unwavering in duty; and in the administration of their solemn charge may wholly serve thy will, uphold the honor of our Nation, secure the protection of our people, and set forward every righteous cause; through Jesus Christ, thy Son, our Lord. Amen.
God bless our native land;
Firm may she ever stand
Through storm and night:
When the wild tempests rave,
Ruler of wind and wave,
Do thou our country save,
By thy great might,
For her our prayers arise
To God above the skies;
On Him we wait.
Thou who art ever nigh,
Guarding with watchful eye,
To thee aloud we cry,
God save the state! Amen.
