Lame-duck Barney Frank joins effort to repeal Obamacare ‘death panels’

Massachusetts Democratic Rep. Barney Frank announced on Tuesday his support for the repeal of the Independent Payment Advisory Board, a significant portion of President Obama’s health care overhaul. Frank, who announced Monday that he would retire at the end of his current term in office, became the 12th Democrat, and the 212th member of the House, to co-sponsor Tennessee Republican Rep. Phil Roe’s bill aimed at repealing the IPAB.

Frank is the most prominent Democrat to join Roe’s bipartisan repeal effort.

IPAB is a 15-member board, appointed by the president, scheduled to convene in 2014. In order to reduce per capita Medicare spending, the board will recommend levels at which Medicare recipients, including seniors, can be reimbursed for health care expenses.

I can’t imagine the death panels will want to spend too much on AIDS patients, or that AIDS drugs will stay cheap as the death panels put more and more drug lines out of reach of patients by banning their use by terminal patients

maybe Bwarny figured this out

Typical Democrat CYA behavior before an election.
Pass it so you can run on that, and then let Obama veto it.
His problems with Obamacare cannot get any worse in any event.

What if the watch reads in military time?

OK. First he refuses to run for reelection. Now he’s against ObamaCare. Clearly, he has been replaced by a Pod Person. “They’re here! They’re here!”

Lame-duck Bwaney Fwank is trying to clean-up his much deserved liberal-nut-job image before he slinks away with millions (if not billions) in ill-gotten, tax-payer backed dollars!

Buck you Fwank! NO, that was NOT an offer, that was a direction!

“I can’t imagine the death panels will want to spend too much on AIDS patients,…”

That’s probably not going to be the case. I’ll wager that AIDS patients will get the bulk of available funds and treatments over non-politically protected patients like cancer or ALS patients. It’s all about appearances. The Democrats pander to powerful, loud lobbies that can flood the streets with Occupiers. The Democratic political model is now pure Saul Alinsky.

He might have had a chance at doing his horrid, perverted image some good if he had stood up to REPEAL OBAMACARE (period).

No, he is still not an American patriot. He is a radical, anti-American DemoRAT, like his ilk. Lipstick on a pig??

I don’t understand how you can severe any part of this bill or provide an exemptions without a severability clause.

In absence of such clause this thing should be tossed overboard as defective in solido.

The “severability clause” only comes into play when a portion of the law is ruled Unconstitutional by an element of the judicary. When included it’s use is to preserve the rest of the law, the so-called “good” parts, after a portion is deemed bad; without it the whole law goes down. It has nothing to do with subsequent legislative action to repeal or otherwise alter parts of a law with or without such a clause.

That was my first thought too.Since AIDS can’t be cured under the guidelines of the act basically comfort and hospice would be what they give for those suffering. Those of us with type 1 diabetes are very nervous right now believe me!

I have been trying to make sense of this portion of the bill. I noticed that there was a reference to *those on government insurance*. Does this mean that someone not on Medicaid and who has supplemental insurance is not subject to the withholding of care after age 73? Or will they continue to try and make sure everyone is on *government insurance*?

My insurance agent, who is a gem, told us that agents’ commissions have been cut drastically by this bill, as well.
