Kuwait's cabinet has resigned after protesters and opposition deputies demanded that the prime minister step down over allegations of corruption, state-run television has reported.
"The prime minister [Sheikh Nasser Mohammad al-Ahmad Al-Sabah] has submitted his resignation to the emir," Kuwait TV said, without specifying whether it had been accepted.
Earlier, opposition member Khaled al-Sultan said the cabinets's resignation was accepted amid a bitter political dispute between the prime minister and opposition MPs.
"We are waiting for the appointment of a new prime minister before parliament is dissolved in order to be assured of fair elections," the Sultan told reporters outside parliament.

I wonder how this is going to affect the expected transfer of US troops from Iraq and Afghanistan to Kuwait. It has been indicated that as troops are drawn down they are just being redeployed to Kuwait and not removed from the region. This (and other "Arab Spring" uprisings) are likely to make it LESS safe OUTSIDE Iraq and Afghanistan.

“Sheikh Nasser, a nephew of the emir, was appointed to the post in February 2006 and has since now resigned seven times because of political turmoil.
Parliament has been dissolved three times over the same period.”
I guess the emir will have to find another relative to appoint.

So, you think obama lied when he said the "troops will be home for the holidays?" That's pretty risky politically considering the "holidays" are less than a month away.

We should have let Saddam have Kuwait as long as he gave us oil for $20 a barrel. Those ungrateful bastards can kiss my white American ass.
I know, I served there and worked with them. Or at least those who would actually serve in their own military.

As long as SOME come home, 0 and the suck-a-fan-tic media will make sure there are lots of pictures and a positive story that is bigger than reality.

As a civilian I went through the Kuwait airport around 18 or so times. From the expressions on their faces it was clear that most don't like us at all.
Pretty much had the same thought as you on my final trip out.

They won’t even serve in their own military because they are above that type of work. Many of there bases were taken over by Iraqi troops without a shot fired because they were staffed with third country nationals who could give a rats ass about Kuwait.

You know what the teachers there told students when they asked, “Why are the Americans here..?”
They said, “Because we PAID them to come and fight for us...”
I’m serious. They largely saw us as simply the latest foreign hired help.
