In breaking news this afternoon, a Georgia woman is claiming that she had a 13-year affair with Herman Cain. She says she has documents (whatever they might be) which can back it up. In what can only be described as the guiltiest-looking no-comment statement in the history of politics, Cains lawyer offered this absurd response (especially hilarious parts in bold):
*snip*
One of two things is true about this statement. Either Mr. Cain and his attorney are basing their views on what is an appropriate subject of media scrutiny for political candidates on the way politics work on another planet (perhaps another galaxy, even), or they are basically trying to telegraph to us that he completely did it. After following Cains campaign for the last several months, I would say either is equally likely. After all, basically the only reason a Presidential candidate would take a principled stand against admitting or denying that they had a multi-year affair on the woman to whom they are still married is if they have some principled objection to lying about having completely done it. And if that wasnt the intended message, then Cains communications operation is even worse than we thought which is really saying something.

Oh yeah... they just chase him. He can’t help it. He’s just a target you know for women with no money. Whatever.... and what’s better... is those democrats are so darn smart, that they orchestrated all of this years ago just so they could use it at this moment... oh yeah.
And yet Herman Cain was helping her financially by his own admission. Why? If she is a non credible liar with a super checkered past, why was he friends with this type of woman and why was he giving her financial assistance? Does that really make sense to you? There is obviously a lot more here.
So that’s your only facts???? Please don’t tell me you are THAT STUPID.
LOL!
I see it does not matter what the facts of the case are... it’s the number of accusers..... Yeah that’s the ticket!
Wow imagine if our courts operated this way? Thus you would have the same Standards as Nazi Germany or Soviet Russia.
It never ceases to amaze me how STUPID some people can be.
Which of the other Commandments are private matters, do you think?
ML/NJ
You don’t have an opposite sex friend when you’re married outside of work and you certainly don’t help that person out financially. If they were friends, it implies there was a lot more between them. The only question left unanswered is whether they were together under the sheets.
Who are the 4 or 5 women that accused him of sexual harassment. Name them and the accusations.
That’s my line.
Its not like he needs people’s permission to talk to someone. The only question is whether that relationship was appropriate.
Who's to blame in a marriage.. It becomes a mutual agreement to appreciate what one has and make amends for wrongs or disrespect shown one another. It is between the husband and wife. If they can make it work, who are we to judge?
Europeans laugh at Americans who consider themselves so puritanical.
Then we move on to Newt? If voters want a picture perfect family, dignity under fire, learns from mistakes and keeps his cool--the Romney Family may just be the ones to beat..
Why do these women who have exposed themselves to the public have a history harassment issues outside of Cain in their workplace ? Why do they seem to save emails and phone records. Who does that? Also single moms getting advice from their 13 year old who is staying with the other separated parent..have a supporting ex bf who has bankruptcy problems and was going through a divorce at the time he was seeing the woman--but says they were not physical. It's a Political Soap.
I am sorry to see Cain have to address these issues and not his tax plan which started the ball rolling in terms of the economy and getting down to business. Or to have to defend his "pauses" to determine the best way to answer a question.
I want to see Obama being grilled in the same venue..then I will pay attention to the debate.
You should be embarrassed.
So?
If it wasn’t sexual, then what was it? Where there’s smoke, there’s fire and while I’m not interested in what else they may have done, giving each other private text numbers does raise interesting questions.
Wow you would make a hell of Detective! (Sarcasm off)
That sounds like a Theory based on nothing. Thanks for validating what I though of you.
Don’t worry - when all of Newt’s indiscretions (and there are a ton we haven’t heard yet) - Newtturd will be taking the exact opposite tack.
Cain came out and denied it himself, so it doesn’t matter what the lawyer said
Stick a fork in him - he's done.
Herman Cain has been thoroughly vetted. He has an excellent record of accomplishments, more than any other candidate, I might add.
That the public is so stupid and naive as to believe trumped up lies to hurt a man they fear is very disconcerting. The schools have done a fine job of dumbing down the people all right. They can no longer think for themselves, just blow with the wind.
How sad for a formerly amazing country! Does not bode well for the future.
I have had it with the oh well attitude. At some point Republicans and especially Conservatives have to say NO MORE!
For me that time is now.
Your right it is about judgment, truth and honesty. That is the very Least Americans should EXPECT from their Candidates.
Mitt Romney has never cheated on his wife. If anyone had any proof of Mitt being a cheater it would have been all over FR since this site is more anti-Romney than it is anti-Obama. All the loud-mouthed anonymous haters should be feeling pretty embarrassed right now. So many folks here refuse to believe the obvious about candidates other than Romney and come up with the most paranoid conspiracy theories when their candidate is accused of being liberal or unethical or immoral. At the same time they are quick to believe any negative mischarachtarization of Mitt Romney, a man who is a model of conservatism and personal responsibility in the way he lives his life.
