Statement by Gov. Rick Perry on Secret Federal Bank Loans
Rick Perry for President ^ | 28th November 2011 | Governor Rick Perry

Posted on 11/28/2011 10:43:29 AM PST by shield

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement on today’s news regarding the Federal Reserve’s undisclosed bank loans:

“These outrageous secret federal loans to bailout big banks are why Americans are disgusted with business-as-usual Washington, the Federal Reserve and taxpayer-funded bailouts. The actions of Chairman Bernanke and Secretary Geithner have again proven that Washington insiders cannot be trusted to stop bailouts, protect taxpayers, or create jobs.

“My economic reform plans seriously overhaul Washington, end federal bailouts and cut government spending, regulations and taxes to put American job creation and our economy on the right track.”

Per SD
This is just how Rick Perry is. After Hurricane Ike devastated my community, he came here to survey the damage. He did not just walk through here surrounded by security and news cameras and then make a speech. That's not Perry. He showed up in jeans and a work shirt, no cameras, no press conference, and he walked among all of us who had been hit. A hug, a pat on the shoulder, a listening ear, and an encouraging word. He saw to it that emergency shelters were being set up and food and water were available to everyone. When Obama/FEMA refused to help us, Governor Perry set up state funding to help us rebuild our homes and our lives. My home is at 'ground zero' where Ike came ashore. We all took tremendous damage. FEMA sent me a check two months later for $600 dollars. Governor Perry set up the Recovery Fund to help us all rebuild. That is what a true leader and a true Christian does. That's my Governor! I can't wait to see America under the caring wing of Rick Perry.

I think you're on the wrong forum. We are conservatives here and we don't want to be under anyone's wing, let alone the governments. This is progressive Obama talk.

The only Conservatives are the ones supporting Perry.

He is an outstanding candidate that takes the issues seriously. He has taken all the establishment has to throw at him. He IS a man of CHARACTER. I remember when everyone here was crying for a man of Character in the WH other than Bubba Clinton. Guess standards have dropped.

Perry states his position. He reminds me of Ronald Reagan. A man that says what he really believes.

I agree that the rhetoric of the post is odd. Nevertheless, Perry is a far better candidate than he gets credit for here. Too bad he probably won’t get a serious second look...

Perry certainly isn't the worst of the bunch, but your statement puts you in line for silliest post of the day.

No More Bailouts:

The Troubled Asset Relief Program, also known as TARP, was wrong when it was signed into law in 2008, it is wrong today, and it will be wrong tomorrow. Instead of bailing out irresponsibly managed banks with taxpayer money, policy makers should focus on removing the government-created incentives that created the financial crisis in the first place. Although alternatives to TARP had been proposed prior to the legislation’s ultimate passage, including a proposal from the Republican Study Committee, Washington politicians preyed on the fears of a financial collapse to ram the bailout through Congress.

Contrary to the claims of many TARP proponents that the bailout would allow troubled banks to expand lending and potentially prop up the faltering economy, lending contracted even further. According to an analysis of TARP expenditures by the Washington Post, lending declined in the immediate months following TARP’s passage and banks that received TARP money “reduced lending more sharply than banks that didn’t.”107 Our leadership in Washington cannot allow this continued irresponsible and unproductive spending. As President, Governor Perry will continue to oppose and never sign a taxpayer funded bail-out. If a bank, company, or nation is “too big to fail”, it is simply too big.

This makes me more certain than ever that a third-party candidate is going to spring up and run on an anti-banker populist jihad platform.

Any comments about his stance on illegals? How does it compare with Gingrich and the rest them and Bachmann who has no stance except to disagree, she says, with Ginghrich.

Rick Perry said that I'm "heartless."

Rick Perry apologized for saying that those who don’t agree with Texas law allowing Texas high school graduates, who have finished the last 3 years in Texas high schools, to pay Texas in state tuition “don’t have a heart.” The very next day, in fact.

Because I oppose in state tuition for illegal aliens. My heart goes out to all of the American victims of illegal aliens. Do you support in state tuition for illegal aliens?

No THAT was NEWT in the last debate. IIRC he was talking about “amnesty” for illegals. You were heartless if you didn’t want illegals here for 25 years to get citizenship?
It was a long and forceful tongue lashing for the “illegal haters”.

Perry said people that would deny In-state tuition didn’t have a heart.

I just noticed your reference to Pat Buchanan in your tagline. Sorry but sometimes the truth makes you upset.

I really don’t have a problem with allowing the barely 1% of Texas college students getting to pay the instate tuition. These kids are obviously goal oriented and would serve society better if they were legal and paying taxes. They didn’t have a choice in the matter. If the feds aren’t going to deport them then we might as well find a way to make them taxpayers.

FWIW, I find it dangerous to think that illegals are the sole arbiters of crime. Bad things happen when certain people are made society’s scapegoat.

What is so conservative about Perry?
Governor Rick Perry is a great American, a veteran, a conservative, a leader, and a man of conviction and faith. He will make a fine next president of the United States of America.

He is pro-life, pro-guns, pro-family, pro-business, pro-job creation, pro-economic growth, pro-military, pro-Israel, and pro-states rights.

He is for limiting Federal power over the states and the people; for reducing the size of the Federal Government; for cutting taxes, cutting spending, repealing regulations, balancing the budget, and expanding domestic energy production.

He is for securing the border using strategic fencing, boots on the ground, and aviation assets such as Predator drones to provide real-time information to law enforcement and border patrol.

He says securing the border will be a top priority and he will have it done in his first year as president.

He is opposed to amnesty and the Federal DREAM Act.

“He is for limiting Federal power over the states and the people”

Yet, he mandated against the will of the people of Texas innoculations for little girls. Doesn’t seem limiting to me.
