FRspeak:
Amnesty:
1. When a candidate’s plan has any component other than “Deport them all.” This version currently describes all Republican candidates, past, present and future.
Rick Perry tried to spark an honest discussion on immigration, and he got hammered for it. Today, he has no immigration plan on his website. Michelle Bachmann, who also has no immigration plan, was the ringleader in throwing around the "amnesty" charge. Electrified fences and mass deportation schemes are red meat for the roughly 1/3 (and I'm being more than generous here) of conservatives who favor them. But do the math: They account for less than 10% of the electorate (Ron Paul territory), and a much larger percentage of the remainder would specifically vote against such schemes (and damn the economy). And that is assuming that they would even work. They wouldn't.
My list of political priorities is as follows:
Right to Life
Defense
Smaller Government
The Constitution
Economy
Family
Immigration
