Colin Powell on Sunday blamed the media as well as the Tea Party for the divisive political tone in Washington.
Not surprisingly, neither the class warfare stoked by President Obama and his Party nor the resulting Occupy Wall Street movement was mentioned during this seven minute interview with Christiane Amanpour on ABC's This Week (video follows with transcript and commentary):

Yes, at one time he could have had it all. Now he’s in the same cesspool with the rest of the DC rodents.

Does anybody know how to contact this POS by eMail, phone or FAX?
I really need to share with him directly how I feel about his disgusting ignorance, and arrogance, about people who care about this great country of our.
Please, anything, anyway, to contact General Powell!

I always held Powell responsible for his idiot advice to not invade Baghdad in the early 90's when we had them in our hands. His advice cost another generation of soldiers their very lives when we had to go back and finish the job he fought so hard against getting right the first time.
Who knows? Collin Powell may we have facilitated the build of strength of terrorist cells in the ME and may have contributed to the devastating 9/11 attacks by his actions.
I will always believe it to be so.

I once admired Powell.. that went out the window when he sold out his country for some “media” love with his endorsement of Obama... a shameful act of picking race over all else. And he continues his pathetic backstabbing of all things American today.
Piss off, traitor.

Naturally...1860 comes around, and this Tea Party-like mentality comes up in the New England States again (and the Ohio Valley states), and this stand is finally mounted to take down slavery. We can make the case that Lincoln took advantage of this Tea Party-like mentality, and did what finally had to be done. Right was established over wrong.
The case can also be made that freeing the slaves was an unintended byproduct of the war, harped upon by revisionist historians to justify the overthrow of the southern states.
""If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that."
"I thought that in your struggle for the Union, to whatever extent the negroes should cease helping the enemy, to that extent it weakened the enemy in his resistance to you. Do you think differently? I thought that whatever negroes can be got to do as soldiers, leaves just so much less for white soldiers to do, in saving the Union. Does it appear otherwise to you? But negroes, like other people, act upon motives. Why should they do any thing for us, if we will do nothing for them? If they stake their lives for us, they must be prompted by the strongest motiveeven the promise of freedom. And the promise being made, must be kept." - 1863
"I am not now, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social or political equality of the white and black races. I am not now nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor of intermarriages with white people. There is a physical difference between the white and the black races which will forever forbid the two races living together on social or political equality. There must be a position of superior and inferior, and I am in favor of assigning the superior position to the white man." - 1858
-Abraham Lincoln

Cowardly Colin let Scooter Libby twist in the wind, all the while knowing that his man Armitage was the leaker.
Powell is a coward.
To: Rummyfan
Colin should look to his black president if he wants to talk “divisive tone”.

powell is such an inside-the-beltway, affirmative-action equal opportunity loser. In spite of whatever he accomplished, he is a loser with a capital L. What a small person.

We can make the case that Lincoln took advantage of this Tea Party-like mentality,Lincoln was a racist to the nth degree and was no abolishionist. He opposed slavery in the territories because he wanted the territories reserves for the white race. Slaves allowed in the territories were going to pollute its lily whiteness.
Lincoln's big plan was to send freedmen to Haiti or Liberia.

Slaves were freed for basically the simplest of reasons, Lincoln need fresh meat to throw at the Army of Northern Virginia, as he was running out of Irish FOB’s, and the black man would do just fine. These are the things that an unpopular war will cause. Refer to the New York draft riots if you want the tenor of the Union during that time.

I keep thinking there must be some sort of alien liberalism mind control transmitter(s) across America.
The fastest way to demon possession is to move to Washington D.C.
That explains how so many "good" people can be elected or appointed to a federal post, and shortly thereafter they take up the banner of Hell and work to destroy this nation and our founding principles.
I read Powell's biography and he was OK until he he descended into the bowels of D.C.

Never trust a man who has said Our flag is nothing more than a bunch of brightly colored strips of cloth—to be desecrated or
honored at will. In my opine the “division —was caused when
the Courts erected a divisive WALL of separation to divide this nation. And Congress, the Courts, our institutions have
all fallen on one side or the other. When Our Constitution is
no longer understood as meaning what it did when it was adopted-and is but a thing of wax in the hands of a despotic
branch. The authority cited no longer can mean what it did when adopted. And when that happens we can no longer be
the United States of America but have been torn asunder .
