Herman Cain indicated today that he does not agree with Newt Gingrichs position on immigration.
The way I would deal with those that are already here, which has been my stated position: empower the states to deal with the illegals that are already here, not some, big, grandiose, national one size fit-all. I believe that the states should be empowered to deal with the illegals that are already here, Cain said CNNs State of the Union this morning.
In response to whether that meant the states could allow illegal immigrants to be put on a path toward legalization and toward citizenship, Cain answered, It would be up to the states as long as they did not break the federal law.
But when Crowley used the word amnesty, inquiring if that it meant it would be okay if the states granted some sort of amnesty to those who are already living here, Cain vehemently denied he supported amnesty.
Im not saying that at all, he said
Secure the border for real, Cain continued, speaking about what his plan regarding illegal immigrants is. Promote the path to citizenship thats already there, and the path to citizenship thats already there doesnt say anything about amnesty. Thirdly, enforce the laws that are already there, but make it easier for companies to be able to enforce the laws. And fourth, empower the states. Dont give the states any special things to do, just empower them to do within the law what the federal government is not doing.
Maybe we should all vote in the Dem primary for this guy.... Vermin Supreme...

lol
IMHO, the only thing that will change anything about how the Republican establishment thinks candidate selection is if every time they put up a RINO in general elections they lose the conservative vote and lose the election to a Dem.
“Winning” is so important to them that losing is all they will listen to.
RINOs ignore conservative principles once they’re elected. They help Dems pass legislation that is a disaster. And then when things get bad financially - Dems blame them and they stand there not knowing how to respond !
I live in NJ - Christie has the R brand, but all he did was the bare minimum to allow the state to continue running.
No real changes, but tightened up the bugdet just a bit.
Again this is the problem. Exactly 25 years ago Newt Gingrich participated in an amnesty in which a promise was made. The borders would be secured, the laws on the books which were considered fair remained and would be enforced and no other special illegals get to stay here laws would ever be passed again.
Now twenty five years later, Newt goes back on his promise. He wants those who were supposed to never come here after that first amnesty to now receive amnesty. Because, instead of being a deterrent as they swore it would be, it became a magnet. If amnesty was granted once the illegals thought, surely it would be granted again. Newt now wants to make that a fact.
The only thing that will stop illegals from coming here, the only things that will deter them is removing all benefits and advantages and enforcing the laws on the books. Anything else will be a an anybody out in free call to every single person in the world. No one will bother to obey our immigration laws ever again and anyone who follows the law would appear to be foolish. We would completely lose control of our borders. Even if we put up an electrified fence with a mote, snakes, gators, sharks and piranha, with laser weapons, GPS tracking and troops all over, we could not stop the invasion.
Some people consider the invasion to be a good thing. They are the ones we are fighting. They want the invasion. They want things to go so far that there is nothing we can do to regain our country from being controlled by the world. These are the same people who believe in one world order. They are the ones who wanted the Trans Continental Corridor of which the Trans Texas Corridor was a part. It is the same Trans Texas Corridor that Rick Perry was so desperate to build.
I love my country. I love its people. I have little sympathy for those who come here without our permission like an invasion force taking our jobs, stealing our benefits, sucking up our tax dollars, disobeying our laws and disrespecting our customs while demanding that we give them more things.
If I have no sympathy for someone who has been here twenty-five years, it is because I know they came here realizing the last amnesty was supposed to be the last amnesty. They knew they were to suffer the consequences but they hoped someone like Gingrich would come along and forget all about what originally was promised twenty-five years ago.
If I seem indifferent to those who have come here illegally and have given birth to children who claim to be American citizens, it is because they knew what they were doing when they came here illegally. They had the children to “anchor” themselves to this country illegally. But I do believe that the children should go with the parents. So I would not divide a family. I would make the parents take the children with them until they were adults and could apply for entry on their own.
When we decide not to enforce our laws, it’s like making rules for your children and not being serious about them. Some of your children will test you, some may even begin breaking the rules willfully. If you don’t let them know you are serious, they will never obey that rule. They will even begin testing any other rules you make. The only thing amnesty of any kind will bring is lawlessness. Perhaps that is the kind of country you want to live in. But I can do without it.
Thanks for your reply. I agree with you that we should support the conservative, that is why I am voting for Michele Bachmann. She seems to have the conservative credentials and I do not see the wavering that we tend to see with many candidates. She was my favorite from the beginning and after looking over the whole selection, I came back to her again. I will vote for her if she is still on the ballot when it is time for my state to vote in the primary. I do not care who others vote for or if some say that she is not electable. I believe that we have to vote for our first choices at the primary and then vote for whichever Republican wins in the final election. There is no other intelligent thing to do.
We should not be voting for people that we are told are *electable*. You never hear anyone in the media chastising Democrats for being too liberal and urging them to become more moderate and *electable*. Only Republicans are supposed to moderate their views. This is why I believe in voting for your first choice in the primaries regardless of whether it is believed that they have a chance.
Even if your primary candidate does not make it into the finals, a good showing in the primaries will show that many people are in agreement with the candidate and that will empower your position. If you water down your vote than we will always have a watered down party.
If a dark horse candidate does make it to the Republican nomination, then it will boost him or her to high status. This will get the voters attention and will give the candidate an aura of being a winner. After a candidate is nominated as the Republican candidate, the party should then go all out and run a smart campaign getting behind him or her one hundred percent. If the Democrats could make a mythic hero out of a nobody like Obama, a really strong campaign could make an even less than perfect Republican look like a giant standing next to a dwarf like Barack Obama.
