Electricity rates now depend more on public policy and regulatory decisions than on actual costs.

Supply and demand -- who needs 'em?

That old "market economy" stuff is on the ash heap. Now we have a centrally planned economy and rates will be determined by the politicians. Wonder how that will work out ...

I just noticed that our meter has been replaced with a smart meter. Not cool.

No warning at all.

Now, with 24 wind turbines within a few mile radius of her home, Collette says: “It’s not pretty living with these 400-foot behemoths and there are many times the incessant swirling and swooshing has me depressed and angry. The enjoyment of my home and property has been taken away. Other residents are suffering deeply with tinnitus, ear pain, migraines, and sleep disruption. Luckily my symptoms are not as severe and, other than the lack of sleep, I seem to be able to cope. Some neighbors have told me that they have resigned themselves to finding a way to live with the development because there is no hope of changing anything now that the turbines are up and running.”

This in a nutshell is one of the things about our society that irritates me. We want cheap energy for our homes and businesses but we don’t want it where we live and work at because the generation of it is an eyesore or in this case an eyesore and an earsore.

So because of our “democratic” method of determining public good we place these facilities as far away as possible from the majority of voters who live in the big cities.

AKA “The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few.”

“Reflecting on the multi-year battle, Colette says: it “completely shattered my faith in government and the environmental movement.”

So it had SOME positive impact.

That does it, I’m getting off the grid. Next year. Windmills and solar panels for us. Not because I am an environmentalist wacko but because I just no longer wish to give these people my money.

Are you sure? A meter change could just be an upgrade which enables remote wireless reading from the street without the need for the power co. employee to come on your property and physically eyeball the meter. That's a cost-saving improvement, IMHO.

The concern with "smart" meters is for differential billing by time of day, or worse, the potential to brown out (reduce) your power to change your energy consumption habits. I'd think they'd have to disclose that in mailings or billings.

I have a couple of solar panels as power at my weekend place. they supply me with the basics power for lighting and a radio etc but that’s about it. one of my neighbors who is a permanent resident has a much more extensive set up and a couple of wind turbines. so it is possible to be independent.

Soon there will be a shortage of pollution. But don’t worry, the Chinese are sendings lots of that over the Pacific from their thousands of wholly unregulated coal power plants. /s

The #1 requirement that I will require of any candidate getting my vote will be the removal of these cockroaches from government agencies.

This is all part of the Soros/United Nations Agenda 21; make everything so expensive that eventually 6.5-billion people starve to death, leaving a Walden paradise for George and his slaves to inhabit.

One: These things, wind and solar, don't work. Two: Accoding to this woman these were forced onto her property against her will. Three: Evos don't want coal, nukes, wind or solar, they want no energy generation at all.

The answer is to do away with the EPA and put coal and nukes back to work for us, dismantling all the wind mills and solar arrays.

For every solar array and wind farm there has to be a back up Generator standing by for when the wind and sun don't co-operate.

These people are whinning for good reason, they were lied to by the government(big surprise)and have had their lives disrupted. Get a grip and face reality.
