For being the “smartest” man in the race, this buffoon has no clue whatsoever. How many American workers are currently unemployed? Why do we need alien workers? Why do we want to continue subsidizing “cheap” foreign labor? Why continue burdening the taxpayers, law enforcement, courts, hospitals, schools, the welfare system, etc, with the illegal alien community?

Secure the borders.

Cut off all social benefits for illegals.

Clamp down on employers who hire illegals.

Deport illegals when caught.

Send the convicted criminals among them to prison.

The rest will leave as the freebies and opportunities dry up.

Bust up their families? Hell no! We’re not inhumane. They can take their families with them back home to Mexico.

Amazing how such a simple concept is so difficult for many freepers to grasp.

Gingrich's own home state of Georgia passed a strong anti-illegal law a couple of years ago.

Maybe, if Gingrich had gone home, after his stint in the House, instead to taking up permanent residence INSIDE THE BELTWAY, he would know the feelings on this issue OUTSIDE OF THE BELTWAY.

Throw in "Perp walks and hefty fines for illegal immigrant employers" and there will be an immediate mass exodus!

Not much different from Newt’s plan....IF the border is secure.

And if there is immigration reform and work visas, we won’t have this problem. The mass deportation before the border is secured, or even after is financially not workable as other posters have presented with facts. Cutting off benefits is a legislative process, not executive process, and most often left up to the states.

the whole discussion of what to do with all the illegals is a moot point UNTIL the border is secure. Its a great diversion when the only issue the conservatives should rally around is securing the border and creating work visas. That would get widespread voter support.

Bingo. Bust up... right, that's a funny one.

Let's see, people travel back and forth to Mexico visiting people.

Lot's of American citizens have relatives in Mexico and Canada and they call, send emails, VISIT.

So enforcing the law is now - according to some - inhumane. That takes the cake. Enforcing the law is inhumane.

And as you so clearly pointed out, if it is that important to all the people here legally to live with the person who's not, yes, they could certainly make the decision to all move back so they could live together 24/7.

Newt is simply tugging at the heart strings of Hispanics, who value family, which is wonderful. But he is cherry picking situations, looking at a hypothetical rarity, a whole large family that have all been granted citizenship where perhaps an elderly patriarch has not.

Truthfully, of course, it is wrong (and deceptive) to come up with such tearjerker hypothetical situations.

Anyone who steps across the border of ANY nation and plops down to reside there without lawfully pursuing citizenship assumes the responsibility for having done so - and every one of these people fully knows that. If they did this in Iran think what would happen to them.

It is the magnet of the U.S. that draws them. Apparently, the fact that parents of a child come here illegally somehow still does not prevent the child from becoming a legal citizen.

All that mostly has to be done is to stop handing out "free" citizenships, i.e., where the path one took to get here is not verified upon applying for citizenship. If the now-adult child of illegal aliens had to prove, oh, I don't know - where they came from, how they got here, who their parents where - and show an original birth certificate and let it be verified (I know, don't get us started !), then the juice to the electro-magnet would instantly turn off.

There would be no more reason to come here illegally because your children will someday be citizens, if when they applied for citizenship the illegal entry would disqualify them.

IMHO.

Amen.

Any Republican who doesn’t get it that we can’t have economic prosperity without securing our borders, has no business running for President.

I became an American citizen the hard way. And I’m thankful for the privilege to love and serve my adopted country!

I don’t think its fair those who wait patiently to come here and then wait some more years to become American citizens to have them witness illegals cut in front of the line.

Insisting on enforcing our laws is not a sign of our inhumanity. Its a sign of our decency and our concern for the well-being of our fellow Americans and lawful permanent residents.

We must have the guts to do what is right and not what is expedient. A nation is nothing without national habits and virtue. We abandon those at our peril.

“Those who have no regard for their ancestors, neither will they esteem their posterity.” We should take Edmund Burke’s warning to heart.

God Bless America!

But, but, but we’ll have to pay $10 for a single apple as another freeper claimed a couple of days ago.
