Recent events have focused the media spotlight on a polygamous sect near San Angelo, Texas, calling itself the “Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.” As you probably know, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has absolutely no affiliation with this polygamous sect. Decades ago, the founders of that sect rejected the doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, were excommunicated, and then started their own religion. To the best of our knowledge, no one at the Texas compound has ever been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Unfortunately, however, some of the media coverage of the recent events in Texas has caused members of the public to confuse the doctrines and members of that group and our church. We have received numerous inquiries from confused members of the public who, by listening to less than careful media reports, have come to a grave misunderstanding about our respective doctrines and faith. Based on these media reports many have erroneously concluded that there is some affiliation between the two – or even worse, that they are one and the same.

Over the years, in a careful effort to distinguish itself, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has gone to significant lengths to protect its rights in the name of the church and related matters. It is indeed what I hope the Mormon would do, check into their belief deeper. Go to the websites, read what those that have managed to escape the LDS/Mormon church have to say about it. They were duped, they are furious.

My dad was a Mason, mother with the Eastern Star, and I joined the Rainbow Girls. They are cults as well. Even before I became a Christian, I could sense something wrong in there. The WRONG was the secrecy and repeated rituals of it all. Jesus Christ was/is and never will be SECRET, HIS light shines for all to see, if they will. He needs no help from some made up "other" book.

I quit going, and explained why to my parents, of course they were saddened, but they too quit going to theirs orgs. Out of the mouths of babes? perhaps.

The Lord’s Church have no secrecy only sacred things which can be found in all of our scriptures.

It is like a parable those who have ears to hear and eyes to see will be able to discern much of it in those passages.

I could live with Bachmann, Cain or Gingrich. They are all conservatives and good candidates. I think Newt has the momentum and will likely be the one going head to head with Mitt.

I’m really not sure at this point that Newt is more conservative than Romney or Huntsman. He’s certainly a big government technocrat who almost couldn’t be worse on illegal immigration. I will grant you that at least there is more there there with Newt than with Cain, who is our Chance The Gardener candidate.
