This Otis Redding tune earned Lady Aretha a #1 on various charts and two Grammy Awards in 1968 for "Best Rhythm & Blues Recording" and "Best Rhythm & Blues Solo Vocal Performance, Female". In 2002, the Library of Congress honored Franklin's version by adding it to the National Recording Registry. It is number five on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It was also included in the list of Songs of the Century, by the Recording Industry of America and the National Endowment for the Arts. "Respect" was recorded on February 14, 1967 with Aretha's sisters, Carolyn and Erma, singing backup. It's also featured near the top of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll list. I dare you not to shimmy something if you click on this one.
Respect

Are you comfortable with this song? You should be. The rough songs create the chaos. This one is very nice to understand.

It’s a lovely song, and it was requested in Freepmail.
It’s a very calming song, and yes, I like it.
