If you look at the Gingrich/Cain debate on YouTube he explains how FedEx can track billions of packages in real time and you can log in and see where your package is in seconds. He wants to use the technology that businesses have been using for years to streamline and solve government processes. This could be used, for example, to see if people are here legally when they apply for government assistance or private sector jobs.
You seem to have failed to grasp a simple reality.
UPS and FedEx are not government entities, and they have computer tracking programs that wotk,
Only for-profit entities must make sure that is the case, or they fail.
Government has no such necessity. IT can't fail; at least not until the taxpayers are forced to fail thrugh excessive taxes, laws and regulations, or unemployment.
I have not heard of a single government piece of software that is not hundreds of % over budget and works. Not a single one at any government level!
Can you?
For me, the California DMV and every County in Central California come to mind.
