You do realize you’re talking about fellow human beings, right?

>>Any time ANY ONE breaks any law, there has to be some form of punishment meted out. Otherwise we become a lawless society.<<

Yes, that’s right, and we became a lawless society when we quit enforcing the border. Got that? WE quit enforcing the border. Then, when we quit enforcing it, reasonable people said, hey, what the hell, they’re letting us in and the pay is good...let’s go. And now, they’re the ones being made to pay.

Please don’t misunderstand me. I think they’re here illegally and they need to either go back or be subjected to reasonable requirements to stay here legally. But we created this problem, and they took advantage of it. Too many people think the immigrants are the sole culprits in all of this, but they overlook our own part in it, and our own part was instrumental in creating the situation in the first place.

And now we want to penalize the children...might as well send all the Irish back too...no statute of limitations in this crowd...

I am against the anchor babies getting tax payer supported benefits, also.

By your thinking, it is OK to go into a bank and rob it because the doors were open. Why blame the robber, the entrance door was not protected.

They are human, but I am not their brother. They feel the same about me and all others of my tribe. Cannibals and pedophiles may be human,, but that does not mean I have to tolerate them infesting my country like vermin.

I said that they “would be treated like migrant immigrants.”

I never said anything like “migrants immigrants.”

They are here legally, and have been for many years.

“If you are confusing those with legal farm workers, those people have papers saying what they are, we have 14 different programs for seasonal farm workers.”

THAT IS THE POINT!

I’m not confusing anything.

You are being obtuse.

“If they are given legal status they automatically become eligible to apply for citizenship.”

Have you ever heard of a green card? That does not automatically make one eligible for citizenship.

We’ve had green cards for many, many years.

FWIW, Newt is saying that there is a middle ground.

They will be allowed to work, but won’t be afforded the freedoms and protection that citizenship allows.

Green card...it’s been here for decades.

Citizenship is not a qualifier, nor is it likely probable.

Citizenship is not necessary for it to be amnesty. Gingrich is proposing amnesty and amnesty is not a conservative position. No thanks.

Have you ever heard of a green card? That does not automatically make one eligible for citizenship.

Immigrants who posses a green card and have been in the US for 5 years become eligible for citizenship through the process if naturalization.

“Some invaders probably don’t even want citizenship.”

The illegals don’t care one whit about citizenship.

“But if they are afforded legal status, as opposed to the illegal status they have now, that is amnesty.”

No, it’s not. We’ve had LEGAL migrant workers for years.

Caesar Chavez was a ringleader WRT illegal immigration...he was against it.

If it involves letting the illegal aliens stay here, it’s amnesty.

“Immigrants who posses a green card and have been in the US for 5 years become eligible for citizenship through the process if naturalization.”

Why would you be against someone who plays by the rules to gain citizenship?

First...they have to get the green card.

They aren’t coming here illegally.

The illegals don’t care one whit about citizenship.

You keep falling for that citizenship line as if it were somehow relevant to this discussion; it's not. One need not be given citizenship for it to be amnesty. You can grasp that simple concept, can't you?

No, it’s not. We’ve had LEGAL migrant workers for years.

What a kooky thing to say. We're talking about ILLEGAL immigrants, not those who came here legally.

Caesar Chavez was a ringleader WRT illegal immigration...he was against it.

Try to stay focused. Chavez has been dead for years and plays no part in this debate.

Boy...does no one here have migrant workers in their area?

No...they won’t be on loan unless they want to be on loan.

They come here to work, not be be citizens. Migrant workers have companies here who take care of them and they aren’t here illegally.

Sheesh...

You can post it a third time and you still don’t understand.

Migrant workers are here LEGALLY.

They’ve jumped through all of the hoops, and have answered all of the questions.

They don’t want to be American citizens...they just want to work.

They have been hurt, jobwise, by the illegals who have invaded.

I have never said I opposes those with green cards gaining citizenship. You said, Have you ever heard of a green card? That does not automatically make one eligible for citizenship." And I commented on what is required for one to gain citizenship. Do I opposes ILLEGAL aliens getting citizenship? Absolutely.

First...they have to get the green card. They aren’t coming here illegally.

Stay focused. We were talking about those who HAVE come here ILLEGALLY.

No...the class of legal migrant workers has been here for years. They choose to do what it takes to qualify for that status.

Illegals, OTOH, don’t want to jump through those hoops.

Newt is not circumventing the law. In fact, he’s following it.
