Can any Newt supporters explain how he will discourage democrats from voting against Newty?

Simply give credit where credit is due, and cite the economic statistics every week (or every day) on every campaign stop.

Actually, I was being disingenuous, any nominee for president, should do that, no matter what. That said, no matter who the GOP nominates, the left is going to be energized and ramped up. The GOP ran John freaking McCain in 2008, the most popular republican among democrats (and someone who was more popular then some democrats), and got their rear end kicked. The leftys though despised, loathed, and hated Bush, and he won in 2000, and won even bigger in 2004.

Honestly, when it comes to energizing the left wing base, it doesn't matter, it could be a bottle of gatorade, and the NY Times would imply its racist, and MSNBC would be calling it a nazi, it could be a dog, and the liberal media would ramp up the base by claiming the dog only attacks black folks and wants to murder small children. What any republican candidate needs is someone who can crank up the GOP base, and draw independents. Thats the key, now which republican can do that ? Thats the big question.

When the courts flip liberal, have fun with a few generations of ‘I lived by my semi-rational principles’. Last election, I said that about McCain, but the courts didn’t drastically change and McCain was a horrendous pick. Now we’re faced with Newt who’s 20times better and you want to sit on your hands. Well, since you’re in California, like me, it really doesn’t matter...
But if you were in Ohio, I would think it was a stupid move for conservatism. We win this election or conservatism is dead. It is. I’m an anyone but Romney/Paul guy right now and I’ll be an anyone but Obama guy after this nomination. I suggest you think it over just a bit. And yes, I know Newts general positions and their consequences (both positive and negative).

Because you’re a ‘real’ conservative?

In one week, the collapse will start being reflected in the polling - in two weeks, his day in the sun will be over.

Happens every time.

“People continue to pretend that nobody knew Newt’s Red Card stance before the debate.”

I did know it, from about a week earlier. I would mention it, and I would be told that I’m full of it. Those days are over now.

You’ll get Obama for another four years then. A lot of folks, including yours truly, won’t vote for another RINO. Obama can beat either Romney or Gingrich. They’re DOA already.

As long as the Republicans have the house I won’t pull the lever for Romney or Gingrich.

Agree, he is not as he seems, Gingrich the Global Warmist, Gingrich Nasty Pelosi’s best pol, Gingrich deep draws from the Public Feeding Trough after leaving office (million dollar advice to Freddy and Medicare, Really? Newt. Really?)

Newt, “We don't need no stinking borders!”

If nominated and elected, he will turn out to be Obama without the African father and the march to One World Governance and “Horhey” Sorosism will continue uninterrupted. The fleecing of America must not be thwarted!

How is this a new poll?

The data you reflect is NOT the RCP average. It is “The Polling Company’s” last poll which is over 4 days old.

So you’re sourcing the wrong information and could be misinterpreted.

More accurately this thread should be titled:

“The Polling Company’s 4 day old poll, which was an outlier when it came out, shows a 13 point advantage for Newt.”

I didn’t even look at the other ones you posted because your first one was so badly misrepresented.

And before you lay into me about me being an obvious Cain supporter, explain how this is a new poll.

In case you just read the first and last sentence of people’s posts I will ask that question again:

How is this a NEW poll?

Obviously you haven’t read this. Gingrich is not for open borders. In his debate remarks on 11/22 he advocated:

control the border
guest worker program
review board
deportation in specific cases
very severe penalties for employers

Let's look at those further:

control the border - According to Janet Napolitano, the border is already under control. That is the problem I have with those who simultaneously push for secure borders and amnesty - they will simply declare the border to be secure to get their amnesty, whether or not the border is actually secure.

guest worker program - with unemployment over nine percent, why do we need guest workers? Why should we bring in guest workers, given the problems we have seen with such programs in Europe?

review board - with a rubber stamp for all but violent criminals, in all likelihood.

deportation in specific cases - see above

very severe penalties for employers - with highly selective enforcement.

I don't trust Newt on this. I don't trust the Kriebel Institute who is pushing for more cheap imported labor at a time when millions of Americans are out of work. I instead look at the long and sordid history of how the Beltway 'solves' problems - by doing anything other than addressing the root causes that triggered the problem in the first place.

You may choose to delude yourself, that this would turn out different than Simpson-Mazzoli. I don't.

The issue with him is what should be done with the folks that are already here.

Actually, it's narrower than that.

He's for deporting those who have arrived recently, have committed crimes, and have not assimilated.

Wolf Blitzer's question, the one that got all of this uproar started, was, if I recall correctly, about what to do with illegals who are here through no fault of their own, e.g., those brought here by their parents, who have assimilated in some form or another, during the decades of lack enforcement of immigration laws.

Well then, if you are looking at thier record, that means that Cain is out for you, because he has no record, and Gingrich must be your top choice, because he has done more as a conservative leader while IN OFFICE than all other candidates combined.

Well, no candidate will please everyone or get every vote. That’s why they have primaries. However, he will be getting my vote.

At this point I can’t make heads or tails what he’s honestly for.

Have you tried reading www.newt.org or any of his books?

For one thing, he said he'd open up American energy resources. That right there is the single best thing we can do to undercut the muslims. Energy independence and supplying our oil to other nations.

www.newt.org is a good place to learn what he proposes to do.
