, but I really can not imagine someone being hunkered down in an emergency situation, in one location for more then some weeks.

Where do you imagine they're going to go?

Please do not get me wrong.
If a person has the space and money to stock two years of supplies, I am all for it, but it looks much nicer on paper then in reality.

You first have to define the disaster, which, of course, you can not do.
There are just too many variables, such as type of disaster, location, weather, politics (war or peace).
Another huge factor is your skills and abilities.
The majority in America have never hunted anything more then
a mouse in their kitchen.

It is great to have a two year supply of survival supplies, but not much good if they are blown up, taken from you, or destroyed in any number of ways...fire, flood, theft, earthquake, war, etc.
The odds of your being able to use them in a worse case scenario becomes quite slim.

Some situations can require you to hunker down, but it is just as likely that you will have to always be on the move.
We are discussing a subject that has too many variables.
