“Where do you imagine they’re going to go?”

Please do not get me wrong.
If a person has the space and money to stock two years of supplies, I am all for it, but it looks much nicer on paper then in reality.
You first have to define the disaster, which, of course, you can not do.
There are just too many variables, such as type of disaster, location, weather, politics (war or peace).
Another huge factor is your skills and abilities.
The majority in America have never hunted anything more then
a mouse in their kitchen.
It is great to have a two year supply of survival supplies, but not much good if they are blown up, taken from you, or destroyed in any number of ways...fire, flood, theft, earthquake, war, etc.
The odds of your being able to use them in a worse case scenario becomes quite slim.
Some situations can require you to hunker down, but it is just as likely that you will have to always be on the move.
We are discussing a subject that has too many variables.
You couldn't be more wrong.
One does not prepare for everything. One prepares for the most likely, and gradually progresses to less likely as resources allow.
Losing a job is more likely than hurricane damage, but if you prepare for the hurricane correctly, the loss of a job is already covered.
I'm not about to go tit-for-tat with you over hypotheticals that are designed to do nothing but make your position seem reasonable, but trust me on this, you're talking out of your hat.
...”The majority in America have never hunted anything more then
a mouse in their kitchen”...
Yes..I am thinking that neighborhoods should ban together to bring in a expert who knows how to organize and teach survival..Most Americans do not know the first thing about how to survive on their own..That is why they will look to a dictator when things fall apart.
If somebody can't live off the land, than he needs to learn, than he can be self-sufficient. Being able to procure food is better then starving. It's easy to find a buddy than go hunting, than he can learn to stalk, shoot, and process an animal. It's better then having to going hungry, than he's screwed.
then than then than then than then than
