DES MOINES Having just taken his place at the front of the Republican presidential pack, Newt Gingrich now faces a potential backlash from conservative activists here in Iowa over an immigration proposal that he called humane but that his opponents quickly decried as providing amnesty.
The former House speaker appears to have alienated some of the conservatives who had warmed to his candidacy by saying Tuesday in a candidates debate that he would allow millions of illegal immigrants who have settled in the United States to become legal residents.

A lot of the dingbats on this site seem hell bent to let the MSM choose their favorite candidate (not by who the MSM endorses, but by who the MSM bashes). Many of the other ninnys on this site seem to be hell bent to make sure Obama wins reelection.
Every Republican except Paul would be much better than Obama. And not one of them is perfect. If we have a tea-party Congress, even Romney would be just fine.

Borax Queen: “I was watching the debate and saw him. In my opinion, he was cocky about it too, sort of like daring law-abiding Americans to cross him.”

I posted it before, but it reminded me on his 1994 book deal. Newt was brilliant in his efforts against Wright, Clinton and Contract with America. He undid 40 years of dem rule.
And then, before he even took office as Speaker, he announced a multi-million dollar book deal-—precisely what he was campaigning against! Unbelievable.
This controversy seems the same thing— He was pulling away from the pack, and then, he initiated a controversy. He wasn’t forced into this reply by the debate question. I don’t know- just strange. He’s very bright—perhaps he has good reason- time will tell.
Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving—!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours as well.
I saw an online pool where 73% of the people agreed with him! I don’t but that is where the people are if it is accurate!
Ok, I’m going to say upfront that I’m absolutely ignorant on this question that I’m about to ask:
Abject poverty and horrible living conditions and low wages are some of the reasons Mexicans come to the US.
So why can’t we open up some factories 100 miles on the other side of the border, in Mexico, that are US-owned... that will give them a living wage and a reason to stay in THEIR country?
We send labor business to China all the time. Why not send more of our labor business to to Mexico?
Good new on a great day. Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
That qualifies as one of the dumbest statements on this thread.
Ever heard in In-N-Out? None near most people, but they're incredibly successful in both quality and profit.
Thank you, VinL — Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Ha!!! it dawned on me the other day as I was replying to a certain freeper. He was the same one posting over and over on Gingrich. Have learned to ignore him as he is beyond hope..some just can’t be educated. PS...love your pic:)
I should have trusted my instinct, the global warming, ethanol, sitting on the sofa with Pelosi,, teaming up with Hilary, supporting Scozzafava is the real Newt.
He’s an extremely good debater, and very well read about the history of our nation. Making it more unforgivable for him to support 20 million illegals over us.
Ron H...ashamed to be an American. We’ll keep that in mind...
Here's another, one which I believe takes the prize..
Trust me most [Mexicans] would rather be in an American prison than life in Mexico.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to you too Naps!
Just another RINO hell-bent on blurring the line between liberal and conservative.
No thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving Buc!
A momemtary backlash. If the following happens, it will be forgotten:

One year and a felony conviction would do it.
I don’t know. There are a lot of Palin supporters at FR and I don’t think they would vote for a pro-amnesty RINO simply because Sarah Palin endorsed him. Then again, she endorsed pro-amnesty RINO John McCain and he won reelection. Sad.
Thanks! Same to you and yours!
