Yep, 60 east valley heading towards Globe, AZ...I live a short distance from the turnoff to Idaho Rd which is the best access to the Superstitions from the west facing side of the mountain...It’s on the Flat Iron which is infamous for hiking..was up there last year and about killed myself doing it.was up there two days ago and was planning on doing the Flat Iron this weekend...guess not now! Pray!
That was it. I hiked that trail back in ‘89 in June! Yikes!
I have at least 3 books on the Lost Dutchman to include the classic from Sims Ely. What a fascinating and dangerous place. While this story brings back old memories, it is a very rugged place and this will be difficult to get information until daylight.
