We hear a lot about Six Sigma in terms of government, but without competition, government tends to run in the range of two sigma errors. Individual agencies can be improved. However, don't expect your DMV to be a Six Sigma (which is really a 4.5-sigma) agency soon.

Oh, certainly! But I can personally give you examples where government could be greatly more efficient with Six Sigma (Department of Agriculture, for example). Heck, anywhere there is scientific testing of any sort is a golden opportunity!
