Rick Perry released a web video today thanking U.S. troops for their service and wishing the country a Happy Thanksgiving.
Called Securing the American Dream (Marcus Story), the video features Marcus Luttrell, an East Texas Navy SEAL who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, recounting his experience in the military. The nearly three-minute video then transitions to patriotic images, footage of Perry at events and audio of a speech in which Perry talks about the strength and promise of the military.
Text appears across the screen reading Our mission is clear our message is simple to secure the future of the American dream As Americans we have a lot to be thankful for, especially for our brave military men and women before ending with Happy Thanksgiving.
Perry, who served in the U.S. Air Force for five years, shares a close relationship with Luttrell. In the video, Luttrell details their connection, saying he calls the Texas governor for fatherly advice and explains why he supports him as he runs for president.
Hes one of the most honorable men Ive ever met. You know, I dont get into politics, you know. Im a soldier. So with that being said, though, as far as character and honor and commitment and all those words that most people use for a punch line, he lives that stuff, Luttrell says in the video. Its those characteristics in a man and especially in him that I think embody what the president of the United States should be.....

I’m voting for Rick Perry.
Okay, okay I KNOW this is a loaded question but here goes anyway. Is there a TURKEY in the video?
That logo reminds me of Obama’s ...
Me too!
I’m not, but I do appreciate the good wishes. I wonder if Luttrell is still active duty. There might be issues.
Very good video. It is refreshing to see a candidate that supports the military something that has been sorely lacking by the current occupant in the Whitehouse.
You, me, and Marcus Luttrell!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
God, family, country...
Rick Perry gets it.
Me too!
Nice, thanks for posting.
I look at it and think Easter Egg. It makes Cain’s look downright austere.
That doesn’t mean that Perry impresses me the most out of the candidates. I believe that distinction still belongs to Herman Cain.
Me, too. He’s got a good record. Those folks that went to Texas after Katrina. Did they ever thank him??
The only thing, is that fancy script .org in the Easter Egg graphic looks gay. I’d be more inspired to see a rednecky font used for the .org . Sticks, logs, a Wild West font, or sumfin like that.
Have you forgiven me for accidentally posting to you yesterday?
Marcus recieved a medical release from active duty in 2007. His twin brother Morgan, is also a SEAL, and is still on active duty.
Good to hear. The rule about active duty not getting involved in politics is not a wise one, in my opinion. I would hate to see someone get in trouble over it. (Who has a better right to exercise their First Amendment rights to free political speech than someone who risked their life to defend that right?)
I never heard it if they did.
Happy Thanksgiving!
The logos and such? I’ve never given it much thought.
I’m not only voting for him, I’m going to work hard to get him elected.
